What Are We to Do with What He Has Gifted to Us?
Thomas was concerned, afraid in fact, to be separated from Jesus. So—
“Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?”
(The Gospel According to John 14: 5 NASB)
There are many people who do not know the way to heaven.
In fact, we who believe were once ‘those people’ too, but now, by the grace of God, we know the way. Since we do know the way to heaven: Do we faithfully ask God what we are to do with this knowledge, this truth, this ‘map of sort’ He has gifted to us?
In response to Thomas’ question—
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life;
(The Gospel According to John 14: 6 NASB)
no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
The devil works hard to lie to us!
Maybe pause to read that statement again, allowing what we know to be true to sink down deep into our memory.
The devil works hard to lie to us!
- Have you ever wondered why the devil works hard to lie to Christians?
- Have you ever wondered why the devil would expend any effort to lie to those who profess to belong to God?
- Truly, why would Satan even care to bother us any longer, to trip us up as we walk with Jesus, and to cause us to stumble in following God’s commandments?
These three questions are vitally important (among so many others the Bible gives us to ponder). Thank goodness, the Word of God provides ALL the ANSWERS to LIFE’S QUESTIONS!
“This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.
(The 1st Letter of John 2: 25-29 NASB)
These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you.
As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.
If you know that He is righteous,
you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.”
- God pursues each person from the moment He creates him and places him in his mother’s womb.
It is a Truth of God!
- God places within each person an innate desire to know God. The person can either run toward God or he can choose to flee, to run from God throughout life.
It is a Truth of God!
- God knows where He wants each person to go at the end of his earthly life, and that is why God pursues us.
Almighty God wants all men to go to heaven!
It is a Truth of God!
- Jesus knows the way home to the place He has prepared & God knows the day we are leaving this earth.
- God knows there is only one solitary way to reach the home He has prepared for those who believe in His Son and to receive His gift of salvation. This gift comes through the confession of sins.
Jesus is “the way, and the truth, and the life;”
There is no other way!
“No one comes to the Father but through Me.”
It is a Truth of God!
There are many people who do not know the way to heaven! &
The devil works hard to lie to us! &
The devil wants nothing more than to steal the testimony of faith God has given to each child of God! &
The devil will do everything possible this side of heaven to steal our witness!
BUT THE TRUTH OF GOD IS THE TRUTH OF GOD!
- We know that we know that we know—the truth of God & that we are His, exclusively!
- We know who speaks the truth to us—God the Father.
- Just as we also know who is the author of lies (Satan), the one who speaks only lies to us each day.
- We also know we only have so much time, so many opportunities, and so many days to live on-mission for the Lord.
- We know with assurance that He abides within those who are His!
- We know that His righteousness dwells within us!
- We know that we are to constantly, consistently, and faithfully Do His Will!
- We know He will come for us just as He promised!
- We know that one of two situations will occur when He calls us home: He will find us in sin OR He will find us obedient abiding in Him!
- Are we ‘doing’ what we know to ‘do’?
- What Are We to Do with What He Has Gifted Us—to know & to do?
“We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.
(The 1st Letter of John 5: 18-21 NASB)
We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true;
and we are in Him who is true,
in His Son Jesus Christ.
This is the true God and eternal life.
Little children, guard yourselves from idols.”
