Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

WHY are we?

  1. Why are we?
  2. Why are we comfortable with complacency?
  3. Why do we go to church one time, twice, maybe even three times a week, only to sing as we stare straight ahead and allow our minds to think of other things?
  4. Why do we call ourselves Christians and then never open our mouths to our coworkers to ask if they know Jesus?
  5. Why do we enjoy every part of God’s amazing gift of salvation, and then never tell a soul?
  6. Why are we complacent, allowing ourselves to not share our story boldly, our testimony?
  7. Why are we?

“When the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him,

[right in front of Jesus as he was hanging there on the cross]

[Yes, right then, the centurion]

saw the way He breathed His last,

[when the soldier saw how Jesus gave up His last breath]

he said,

[the Roman centurion whose job title was ‘Executioner’]

Truly this man was the Son of God!”

(Mark 15: 39 NASB)
  • We must NEVER forget that Jesus Himself will return, just as He promised!
  • We must ALWAYS remember how Christ Jesus will return victorious, powerful, in all His glory as KING of kings!
  • We must PRAYERFULLY ask God to lead us to someone today who has not accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord!
  • We must WILLINGLY go and AUDIBLY speak the TRUTH:  TRULY, there are two eternal destinations once this earthly life is through:  heaven and hell.

Child of God, we must TAKE SERIOUS OUR WITNESS, OUR TESTIMONY, OUR SALVATION STORY, OUR FAITHFULNESS TO GOD’S WILL as we walk through our today.

During the time of the early church, the apostles Peter and John were arrested, put on trial, and threatened for speaking aloud their faith.  It is there where we read Peter’s confession—

“And there is salvation in no one else;
for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men

by which we must be saved.”

(the acts of the Apostles 2: 12 NASB)
  • Life is filled with troubles, so WHY ARE WE quiet, not sharing that there is a man—JESUS, WHO IS THE ANSWER TO LIFE’S TROUBLES?
  • Life is filled with loss, so WHY ARE WE walking through life, not professing how we know a SAVIOR, WHO IS THE ANSWER TO THE LOSSES OF THIS LIFE?
  • Life is filled with crosses to carry, so WHY ARE WE NOT WILLING TO PICK UP THE CROSS OF JESUS?

Each year, we receive a birthday, a special day to celebrate our birth & to remember our mortality.  As we do, we age; nevertheless, aging (for the BELIEVERS) just means we are getting closer to heaven!  May we keep our eyes on HOME!

JESUS HIMSELF tells us with God’s Word that He has already prepared a place in heaven (for us) when our life here is finished.

In the Bible, a man of God wrote—

“As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years,
Or if due to strength, eighty years,
Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow;
For soon it is gone and we fly away.”

(Psalm 90: 10 NASB)

That is TRUTH.  “We fly away” straight to heaven—if we have ACCEPTED JESUS, BELIEVED HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD, & CONFESSED OUR SINS AGAINST HOLY GOD.

Whether we go home to glory within God’s presence is dependent upon our decision while we walk here, in this life.

Our eternal destination is conditional, based solely upon an individual, personal decision.

WHY are we—those who know JESUS as our SAVIOR—so quiet in our faith-walk?

WHY are we—so FORGETFUL?

SERVING JESUS IS A PRIVILEGE & RESPONSIBILITY & COMMAND this side of heaven!
