JESUS—He is Everything!
Yesterday, after a certain conversation, I heard myself say: “Jesus—He is Everything!” Just minutes before, we had been talking together, sharing life; it had been a good conversation. Then, minutes later, that’s when I heard myself utter the words that today remain planted in the frontals of my mind.
“Jesus—He is Everything!”
- What does that really mean?
- What did I mean when I spoke the words aloud?
- What does this statement look like when propped up against my life?
- What do these words mean when placed up against your life?
JESUS—
He is Everything!
As this morning began: a cup of coffee in my hand, gospel music playing into my ears, and a deep darkness permeating the room, the four words spoken yesterday stood there before me, urging me to examine these words I believed with my every fiber. That’s when the Holy Spirit prompted me to open my Bible to dig into God’s Word so I could see exactly what the LORD would have me truly see.
“All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.
(1 John 5: 17-21 NASB)
We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.
We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
Little children, guard yourselves from idols.”
- What do we need in order to not sin?
Or rather,
- WHO do we need in order to not sin?
“We know that no one who is born of God sins; . . .”
- Once we give our hearts to JESUS—
- Once we receive HIS forgiveness of sins—
- Once the blood of CHRIST covers our sins—
Our HEAVENLY FATHER gifts us with His salvation! &
We are filled with GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT, permeating into every crevice of our being! &
We are then convicted when we sin!
“but He who was born of God keeps him, . . .”
Jesus keeps us!
God holds us tightly within His hand!
God’s Holy Spirit keeps us focused on not sinning against God!
&
Every single moment of every day we are alive, we live in such a way that we reveal to the world: JESUS—He is Everything!
“and the evil one does not touch him.”
The Devil.
Lucifer.
The Deceiver.
Satan.
Beelzebub.
The Evil One—He cannot touch us—EVER!
Because—
The iniquity we did from the moment we breathed our first breath has been forgiven by God.
Because—
The darkness of the world no longer fills us.
Because—
The light of God & the lamp of God’s Word illuminates the path we walk as we live our days.
Because—
We live for the world to see how JESUS—He is Everything!
So how do we live before the lost in this world, revealing that our Savior is Everything to us?
The Scripture provides the answer.
“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.”
(1 John 5: 3 NASB)
The Ten Commandments were first given after the LORD led His people out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Almighty God led His servant Moses to the top of Mount Sinai, and the LORD descended upon it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked violently.
When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him with thunder.
“Then the LORD said to him, “Go down and come up again, you and Aaron with you; but do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the LORD, or He will break forth upon them.”
So Moses went down to the people and told them.
[THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF GOD]
Then God spoke all these words, saying,
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
(Exodus 19: 24-25 & 20: 1-17 NASB)
- You shall have no other gods before Me.
- You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
- You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
- Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath and made it holy.
- Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
- You shall not murder.
- You shall not commit adultery.
- You shall not steal.
- You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
- You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
All the people heard the thunder and saw the lightning flashing across the sky, and the people saw the smoke coming from the mountain. They were terrified at the presence of Almighty God!
- These are not God’s suggestions.
- These are GOD’S TEN COMMANDMENTS!
- When God’s children keep His commandments, we reveal to the world—JESUS—He Is Everything!
- May we, the children of God, examine our hearts, our lives, our daily walk to see if we have kept God’s commandments, and may we, those who have received God’s gift of salvation & who are God’s—Live Our Lives in Obedience to God’s Commandments!
“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.”
(1 John 5: 3 NASB)
