Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

BELIEVE:  YES, HE WILL COME!

“Are you coming?” I said over my shoulder, hurriedly walking away from her and moving toward the kitchen.  This question was a daily ask, an everyday question, & one she had begun to expect.

“Are you coming?” meant she had a “little more” TIME but not much TIME.

“Are you coming?” meant she had to hurry if she wanted to not be left behind.

“Are you coming?”

  • A simple question with a significant and expected outcome.
  • A simple question that REALLY was more of a Command, one she should heed & follow.

“Jesus said to him,
[the Savior spoke these words to Philip, one who wondered.]
“Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip?  He who has seen Me has seen the Father;  how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me?
The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me;
otherwise believe because of the works themselves.
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also;
and greater works than these he will do;
because I go to the Father.”

(John 14: 9-12 NASB)
  • Clearly—Jesus speaks of the Holy Spirit of God who will come to fill the believers.
  • Most-Definitely—Jesus speaks of God’s Spirit who comes to fill the emptiness of a person’s being once someone accepts Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

BELIEVE:  YES, HE WILL COME!

There is a truth that all must accept:  Jesus will come again to redeem those who believe.

It is TRUTH!

  • He tells us within His Word: He will come—again!
  • He tells us to be ready because He will come—again!
  • He speaks these words numerous times during His ministry-time upon the earth.
  • He speaks these words to comfort His disciples before He ascended back to heaven.

He speaks of the day that is “to come.”

“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
looking for and hastening
the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!
. . .
You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,
but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity.  Amen.”

(2 Peter 3: 10-12 & 17-18 NASB)

Jesus speaks these words to remind us to be ready.

He speaks these words through His beloved disciple as He revealed what is TO COME in the last days.

  • Our Lord reminds us daily:  He is coming!
  • Our Savior bids us to tell others who are not ready:  JESUS IS COMING AGAIN!

The Messiah commands us that we ask them:  ARE YOU READY FOR HIS COMING?

BELIEVE:  YES, HE WILL COME!

“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.”
And let the one who hears say,
“Come.”
And let the one who is thirsty
come;
let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.”
. . .
He who testifies to these things says,
“Yes, I am coming quickly.”
Amen.
Come, Lord Jesus.”

(Revelation 22: 17 & 20 NASB)
