A walk through life toward eternity

For You Carry the ‘Actual’ Word of God

“For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;
nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own.
Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world;

but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.”

(Hebrews 9: 24-26 NASB)

I carry a couple of credit cards in my wallet.  See if you can guess one by the following slogan:

“What’s in your wallet?”

Nonetheless, this particular credit card remains one I never wish to leave behind, at home.  In fact, it’s so powerful that when I am afforded the opportunity to travel across the large “pond,” I do not even need to “TELL” the company where I am traveling (as I need to do with my bank card) because my chosen credit card is ALWAYS ‘TURNED ON’ AND READY TO BE USED.

To carry this thought just a bit further, there is another credit card which I do not carry, but the slogan of this particular card SHOUTS VOLUMES about a topic of such importance.

“Don’t leave home without it.”

This is a catchy slogan for a credit card company because of the “credit” people can gain as they carry this particular card.  For sure, the company that offers this credit to consumers “hopes” individuals will recall their catchy slogan from the advertisements and desire to carry their card wherever they go, shop, and spend.

However, let us look beyond the catchy slogan’s power to the “important truth” we can gain.

In the book of Hebrews, we come face-to-face with the questions:

  • How do we live our lives?
  • How do we get through the days?
  • What do we focus upon when life is ‘good’ OR when life comes with ‘challenges’?
  • Where do we turn?
  • What do we carry with us & within us?
  • Where do we go?
  • In whom do we trust?
  • In whom do we turn?

How can we ever LIVE, TURN, CARRY, GO, or learn to TRUST—if the ‘Actual’ Word of God is sitting dusty upon the shelf?

In 2018, I began carrying my Bible with me to school, and while it sat beside my purse in my right-hand desk drawer during class time, the availability it provided me was beyond compare.

  • Oftentimes, the Word of God provided me peace as I ate lunch and read Scripture.
  • Oftentimes, a Bible verse was needed when a co-worker needed an encouraging word.
  • Oftentimes, the very presence of God’s Holy Word was all that I needed to make it through a challenging day. &
  • Sometimes, I was afforded the opportunity to share a verse with another about the Saving Grace of Jesus.

In truth, I found:  “Don’t leave home without it.” an extremely important plan.

“And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,
so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,
will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin,
to those who eagerly await Him.”

(Hebrews 9: 27-28 NASB)

The people of God enjoy ‘REST’ in the Lord!

  • Why would we ever not desire to carry the ‘Actual’ Word of God with us into our day?
  • Why would we ever not want to share the ‘Actual’ Word of God with those we encounter as we go?

May we be studied up, prayed up, & prepared (as we carry) God’s Sword of Truth!
