Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

The Supreme Desire of our Soul—JESUS!

“Indeed, while following the way
of Your judgments, LORD,
We have waited for You eagerly;
Your name, and remembering
You, is the desire of our souls.

At night my soul longs for You,
Indeed, my spirit with me
seeks You diligently;
For when the earth experiences
Your judgments,
The inhabitants of the world
learn righteousness.”

(Isaiah 26: 8-9 NASB)

My niece posted a message on Instagram that caught my eye, and while I considered “re-posting” her original post, the next thought I experienced went something like this:  ‘I wonder what God’s Word has to say about trusting God so much that we TRUST HIS TIMING & TRUST HIS WAY for our everything.’

My niece wrote:  “So thankful He doesn’t follow ‘my’ timing and ‘my’ wishes.”

The prophet Isaiah & Israel’s shepherd-anointed King David—spoke about following God’s timing & desires (more than our own).

“God, You are my God;
I shall be watching for You;
My soul thirsts for You,
my flesh yearns for You,
In a dry and exhausted land
where there is no water.
So have I seen You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and glory.
Because Your favor is better than life,
My lips will praise You.
So I will bless You as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.

My soul is satisfied as with
fat and fatness,
And my mouth offers praises
with joyful lips.
When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the
night watches,
For You have been my help,
And in the shadow of Your
wings I sing for joy.
My soul clings to You;
Your right hand takes hold of me.”

(Psalm 63: 1-8_NASB)

May we give the best of ourselves—to GOD!

  • May we pursue God.
  • May we live by spiritual disciplines.
  • May we always (day-after-day) strive for faithfulness, that which does not “just happen.”

May we strain toward, pursue, and work toward—FAITHFULNESS to GOD!

The Supreme Desire of our Soul—JESUS!

We must give God—

  • Our BEST Time & not the leftover parts.
  • Our BEST Self & not the leftover parts.
  • Our BEST & nothing less.

We must Give God Our Best for one solitary reason.

Our Heavenly Father God gave His Only Son—His Best—to us!

We should give nothing less than our BEST!

This morning, I heard a most-beautiful melody sung by artist Baylor Wilson.  I ask that you pause, put on your earbuds, and listen as she sings “Jesus Happened.”

Thus, the truth of God given to the apostle Paul, words that this servant of God recorded in his letter to the church at Philippi.

“Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet;
but one thing I do:
forgetting what lies behind and
reaching forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Therefore, all who are mature, let’s have this attitude;
and if in anything you have a different attitude,
God will reveal that to you as well;
however, let’s keep living by the same standard to which we have attained.
Brothers and sisters, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us.
For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even as I weep, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ,
whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who have their minds on earthly things.

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also early do wait for a Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ;

who will transform the body of our lowly condition into conformity with His glorious body, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.”

(Philippians 3: 13-21 NASB)
  • We do not “drift” into holiness.

God works in us & through us.

  • We must also “work out” our part.

“We have waited for You eagerly;
Your name, and remembering
You, is the desire of our souls.

At night my soul longs for You,
Indeed, my spirit with me
seeks You diligently; . . .”

(Isaiah 26: 8b-9a NASB)

Our Heavenly Father God gave His Only Son—His Best—to us!

  • We should give nothing less but our BEST!

May we give the best of ourselves—to GOD!

  • May we pursue God.
  • May we live by spiritual disciplines.

May we strain toward, pursue, and work toward—FAITHFULNESS to GOD!

Yes, May We Give God—

  • Our BEST Time!
  • Our BEST Self!
  • Our BEST & nothing less!

We must Give God Our Best!
