A walk through life toward eternity

“Kindle Afresh the Gift”

“For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands,
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, and love and discipline.”

(2 Timothy 1: 6-7)
  • What would our lives look like if we refused to allow fear to define us?
  • What would our lives look life if we embraced love?
  • What would we accomplish daily if we walked in self-discipline?

That’s what the apostle Paul wrote in his second letter to the young Timothy.

“I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you . . .”

When I was a child, we heated our home (mostly) with a wood stove.  While we had electric heat, our first go-to heat source was wood, so my dad made sure we kept an ample supply of cut wood stacked near the driveway.  Dad chose the right tree, cut it into perfectly measured chunks that fit just right in our wood stove. My job (and that of all of my siblings) was to carry the wood from the large stack near the driveway to the small stack that dad created next to the back door.  That way, when the stove became empty and the fire burned low (and faced the chance of burning out), dad or mom only needed to open the back door, reach out, take hold of the heat source (a chunk of perfectly cut wood), and place this new piece into the awaiting embers.  When my parents added the wood to the stove, one important event occurred—FIRE BLAZED!

  • What would our lives look like if we refused to allow fear to define us?
  • What would our lives look life if we embraced love?
  • What would we accomplish daily if we walked in self-discipline?

The Holy Spirit of God fills us from the very moment of our acceptance of God’s salvation!

&

There will NEVER—EVER be a moment when God’s Holy Spirit leaves our being or “un-fills” us!

NEVER!!!!!!!!

EVER!!!!!!!!!!

The Bible says we are sealed forever!

We The Kingdom sings “Miracle Power” that speaks the answer to these three questions.  Take a moment, place your earbuds in your ears, and let the melody speak to your heart.

Today, may we “Rekindle the gift” that is within us!

In order to “Rekindle the gift” that is within us—we must NOT QUENCH THE SPIRIT!

In order to “Rekindle the gift” that is within us—we must NOT play church but BE THE CHURCH!

In order to “Rekindle the gift” that is within us—we must CAUSE THE FIRE TO BLAZE AGAIN!

  • Are we TOTALLY AWARE of the POWER of GOD that empowers us every single moment?!!!
  • Are we FAITHFULLY DOING the MINISTRY of GOD WITHIN THE HOLY SPIRIT’S POWER that resides within us?!!!
  • Are we OPEN & AVAILABLE to the POWER of GOD working within our day-to-day lives?!!!
  • Are we FOLLOWING GOD & leaving the outcome totally to the LORD?!!!

This is the last letter of the apostle Paul as he sat awaiting his execution.  Let that sink in for a moment.  On the “eve” of his death, of his life here on earth, Paul wrote to the young Timothy—“kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you . . .”

  • Be Faithful & Leave the Outcome to God!
  • Be Content with Whatever the LORD provides!
  • Do not Walk Timidly but walk in boldness, for it is God Himself who dwells within us!

Every single moment of every day we are given to live—God’s Unquenchable Power Fills Us!

We can walk forward in “power, and love and discipline.”

  • Thank you dad for providing me with an earthly image, reminding me of what it means to keep the heat source cut and ready to add to the wood stove.
  • Thank you dad for teaching me why it’s so important to stack the wood chunks so close to the back door.
  • Thank you dad and mom for teaching me the importance of working hard to stay prepared.

But thank you most—for teaching me about the goodness of Holy God.

Yes, thank you most—for introducing the LORD to me when I was just a young kid.

YES, THANK YOU MOST—for showing me the way to personally know Jesus as my Savior.

  • Would our lives look different if we refused to allow fear defined them?
  • Would our lives look different if we embraced love?
  • Would we accomplish more each day if we walked in self-discipline?

“Kindle afresh the Gift”

SEE the FIRE BLAZE!

“Kindle afresh the Gift”

SEE the FIRE BLAZE!

“Kindle afresh the Gift”

SEE the FIRE BLAZE!

This is a promise of God—His Holy Spirit will Eternally Blaze within us!

  • Let us NEVER LIVE in a way that attempts to quench the HOLY SPIRIT of God!
  • Let us NEVER LIVE in a way that when God says _____________, we say, “NO, God.”
  • Let us ALWAYS LIVE in a way that responds—“YES, LORD, WHATEVER YOU COMMAND, WE WILL DO, SPEAK, or LIVE OBEDIENT TO YOU, FOR WE KNOW WE CAN FULLY TRUST YOU.”

“For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands,
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, and love and discipline.”

(2 Timothy 1: 6-7)
