Check Our Heart—Our Estate Sale is Coming!
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth;
(Revelation 21: 1-8 NASB)
for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.
And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying,
“Behold, the tabernacle of God is among the people, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,
and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes;
and there will no longer be any death;
there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain;
the first things have passed away.”
And He who sits on the throne said,
“Behold, I am making all things new.”
And He said,
“Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
Then He said to me,
“It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give water to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life, without cost.
The one who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son,
But, for the . . .
[a list of eight sins identified—]
their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
We can escape hell.
How? Someone may ask. The only Way—the Truth & Life—our name must be written in the
Book of Life.
We can escape hell.
BUT
There is no escape “from” hell if we are not prepared for our death!
“Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
(Revelation 20: 14-15 NASB)
And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”
- WHO do we go to—when we have a great need?
- WHO do we go to—when we are so thirsty?
- WHO do we go to—when we desire to become “brand new”?
We can escape hell.
How? Someone may ask. The only Way—the Truth & Life—
our name must be written in the Book of Life.
We can escape hell.
BUT
There is no escape “from” hell if we are not prepared for our death!
- The Believer dies one physical death.
- The Christian dies one physical death.
- The child of God dies one physical death.
If we are honest with ourselves, most of us have a house full of “stuff.”
- Stuff we have collected.
- Stuff we have acquired.
- Stuff we have inherited.
- Stuff we have purchased.
- Stuff we need to throw out into the trash.
- Stuff that fills our closets and dark corners.
STUFF!
One day (sooner rather than later), there will be an estate sale, and those who come after us will take all of our accumulated “stuff” out into the front yard and place it underneath the auctioneer’s tent. There will be fliers and announcements made: “Come one, Come all. Come and see & Come and buy—the stuff this one has acquired, owned, and saved. It can be yours today if you desire to buy. For the person who owned all this “stuff” has passed away, and this person has (of course) left behind all his earthly stuff.”
We can escape hell. The Believer dies one physical death because of JESUS!
How? Someone may ask. The only Way—the Truth & Life—
our name must be written through the blood of JESUS in the Book of Life.
We can escape hell. The Christian dies one physical death because of the SAVIOR!
BUT
There is no escape “from” hell—IF A PERSON IS NOT PREPARED FOR HIS DEATH!
The child of God dies one physical death because of GOD’S ONLY BEGOTTEN SON!
JESUS said—
“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;
(Matthew 6: 20-21 NASB)
for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
- MAY WE CHECK OUR HEART! WHERE IS OUR ETERNAL DESTINATION?
- MAY WE LAY UP OUR TREASURES THAT MATTER! ARE WE CONCERNED ABOUT THE ETERNITY OF OTHERS?
- MAY WE CHECK OUR HEART (for) OUR ESTATE SALE IS COMING!
- FOR OUR SAVIOR, STATES: “but STORE UP for yourselves treasures in heaven,”
