Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Only One Mankind & Truly ONE DECISION & ONE GOD!

Most Christians have read and can even quote 2 Chronicles 7: 14, the well-known verse about God’s people who humble themselves, who pray, who repent from their wicked ways, who turn and follow God.  Most Believers are quick to remember how this passage promises what God will do when they do (repent from wickedness and turn back toward God).  Yes, they remember how God promises to hear their prayers, to forgive their sin, and to heal their land.

The teaching discovered in 2 Chronicles 7: 14 brings peace, joy, happiness, and affirmation that if we do as we are commanded, then all will go well.

Nevertheless, do God’s people also read past verse 14, all the way to verse 19?  Do we see the warning God promises if people abandon God’s truth and turn toward wickedness and idol worship?

“But if you turn away and abandon My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,
then I will uproot you from My land which I have given you, and this house which I have consecrated for My name I will cast out of My sight; and I will make it a proverb and an object of scorn among all peoples.
As for this house which was exalted,
[the temple God promised King David, the one King Solomon built to the glorify God]
everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say, ‘Why has the LORD done these things to this land and to this house?’
And they will say,
‘Because they abandoned the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them from the land of Egypt, and they adopted other gods, and worshiped and served them;
therefore He has brought all this adversity on them.’ “

(2 Chronicles 7: 19-22 NASB)

It is with ALL SERIOUSNESS that we remember our FAITH!

It is with ALL OBEDIENCE that we daily practice the ordinances of GOD!

  • We must fight down upon our knees.
  • We must fight with intense Bible study.
  • We must fight with faithful witness, sharing our testimony with all who will listen.
  • We must fight and never cease!

Truly, there are only two places, two camps, to eternal places!

  1. A person belongs to God—OR—
  2. A person does not!

There are two places of eternity after a person’s death!

  1. Eternity within God’s presence—OR—
  2. Eternity separated from God’s presence forevermore!

However, there is Only One Mankind & ONE DECISION & ONE GOD!

  1. There is a glorious HEAVEN—&—
  2. There is a detestable HELL!

Let’s first establish that you and I are sinners:  every last one of us—MANKIND!

Let’s remember how we are all just alike in God’s eyes.

Once we belong to God, once we give our heart to God—

  1. We are totally obedient children of God—OR—
  2. We are disobedient and walking not as close to God as we should!

Every person is loved by God (as the child’s song says:  Red, Yellow, Black, & White)—“Jesus loves the little children of the world.”

We are created by God the Creator!

The original lyrics were written by C. Herbert Woolston & the music by George F. Root.  These time-tested lyrics still ring true.  Even with a contemporary addition, God’s Love Does Not Change!

Let’s sing together.

“Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red, brown, yellow
Black and white
They are precious in His sight.
Jesus loves the little children of the world.
Jesus died for all the children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow
Black and white.
Jesus died for all the children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow
Black and white
Whether you’re rich or whether you’re poor
It matters not to Him.
He remembers where you’re going
Not just where you’ve been.
Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world.”

Let us go back to the first decision every person must make.

There is—

Only One Mankind in God’s eyes!

&

There is only—

ONE DECISION a person must make!

BECAUSE there is—

Only One ALMIGHTY GOD!

& Most Definitely, there is—

Truly Only One Unpardonable Sin!

Jesus said—
“Now I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do.
But I will warn you whom to fear:  fear the One who, after He has killed someone, has the power to throw that person into hell, yes, I tell you, fear Him!
Are five sparrows not sold for two assaria?  And yet not one of them has gone unnoticed in the sight of God.

But even the hairs of your head are all counted.  Do not fear; you are more valuable than a great number of sparrows.
Now I say to you, everyone who confesses Me before people, the Son of Man will also confess him before the angels of God;
but the one who denies Me before people will be denied before the angels of God.
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him.”

(Luke 12: 4-10 NASB)

Blasphemy:  the Ultimate Sin of no return!

Blasphemy:  the Unpardonable Sin!

Only One Mankind & ONE DECISION a Person Must Make During Life!

Only One Mankind & ONE GOD!

  • Once we accept this truth,
  • Once we believe in Jesus Christ, &
  • Once we confess our sins before God—

Then we will come to the second decision we each must make.  We must also surrender—

  • Our will.
  • Our decisions.
  • Our whole self.
  • Our body.
  • Our mind.
  • Our strength.
  • Our time.
  • Our worries, our prayer concerns, our loved ones, our EVERYTHING!
  • Our LIVES must be lived surrendered—to GOD!

“Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God by failing to keep His commandments, His ordinances, and His statutes which I am commanding you today;
otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, and build good houses and live in them,
and when your herds and your flocks increase, and your silver and gold increase, and everything that you have increases,
then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; . . .
But
you are to remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, in order to confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

(Deuteronomy 8:  11-14 & 18 NASB)
  • May never forget—that place from which God has brought us from—the eternal place of despair—TOTAL SEPARATION FROM GOD!
  • May we faithfully follow God who sent His Only Son to Save Us & to Redeem Us & to Bring Us to Heaven, to HIS ETERNAL PRESENCEFOREVERMORE!
