A walk through life toward eternity

Why We Must Rejoice, Exalt & Worship Holy God—Our LORD!

  • Why do we trust in the LORD?
  • Why do we trust in God?

WHY?

There are so many gods in this world, so many idols we can easily follow, even us, the children of the Most Holy God.  We can be devoted to Almighty God; We can have our eyes upon our Savior; We can be walking & talking with the Holy Spirit—then suddenly, it seems as if we are NOT.

The question:  Was it sudden—OR—Was it a slow fade?

There are so many questions to ask, so many to ponder. Nonetheless, we must answer the question:

Why do we trust in the LORD GOD?

The world of humanity asks this question all the time, seeking to know WHY, so it’s so important that we (Believers in Jesus) Rejoice, Exalt, & Worship the LORD.

Let’s begin with the LORD’S declaration to us—His Creation!

“All the nations will say, ‘Why has the LORD done all this to this land?  Why this great outburst of anger?’

(Deuteronomy 29: 24 NASB)

People ask all the time:  Is the world—worse—now than the world was of yesterday?  Our grandparents & even their parents spoke of better days (than these), but even back then, was the world better, the people more faithful, or just uninformed?

Can the Old Testament and the disobedient ways of the children of Israel teach us anything today?

Can we who live in the new covenant learn anything from those who lived during the time of the old covenant?

YES, they can!

YES, we can!

The Question:

“All the nations will say, ‘Why has the LORD done all this to this land?  Why this great outburst of anger?’

(Deuteronomy 29: 24 NASB)

The Answer:

“Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.
And they went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods that they have not known and whom
He had not assigned to them.
Therefore, the anger of the
LORD burned against that land, to bring upon it every curse which is written in this book;
and the
LORD uprooted them from their land in anger, fury, and in great wrath, and hurled them into another land, as it is this day.’ “

(Deuteronomy 29: 25-28 NASB)
  • The God of the Bible is holy!
  • The God of the Bible is unique, unlike any other god found in the earth!
  • The God of the Bible is distinct, not like us (His creation)!
  • The God of the Bible is faithful, never fickle, never changing!
  • The God of the Bible sets Him apart, distinguishes Him, & causes us to really SEE HIS HOLINESS!
  • The God of the Bible will do what He says He will do—all the time!

“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, so that we may follow all the words of this Law.”

(Deuteronomy 29: 29 NASB)

Our forefathers say to us that we must learn from the history that preceded us or we are doomed to repeat it.  Over and again, we can read historical accounts of that truth.

Do we trust in God?

  • WE MUST!

Do we trust our Savior?

  • WE MUST!

Do we trust in the One who is always faithful, in the One who will never fail?

  • WE MUST TRUST THE HOLY GOD, ONE, TRUE GOD!

Can we look at His history to answer our question(s)?

  • WE CAN!

Can we seek Him?

  • YES, MOST DEFINITELY, WE CAN SEEK HIM!

Will He hear us?

  • 300%—HE WILL!—FATHER, SON & HOLY SPIRIT!

Will He answer us?

  • ALWAYS!

The psalmist wrote about the praise the children of Israel must give to the LORD!

Praise for the LORD’s Faithfulness!

Let us read the “historical” record (the children of the old covenant) they gave as a praise and exultation to the LORD.

&

Let us (the children of the new covenant) really SEE Why We Must Rejoice, Exalt & Worship Holy God—Our LORD!

“The LORD reigns, the peoples tremble!

He sits enthroned above the

cherubim, the earth quakes!

The LORD is great in Zion,

And He is exalted above all the peoples.

May they praise Your great

and awesome name;

Holy is He.

The strength of the King loves justice;

  • You have established order;
  • You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.

Exalt the LORD our God

And worship at His footstool;

Holy is He.

Moses and Aaron were

among His priests,

And Samuel was among those

who called on His name;

They called upon the LORD

and He answered them.

He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;

They kept His testimonies

And the statute that He gave them.

LORD our God,

  • You answered them;
  • You were a forgiving God to them,

And yet an avenger of their evil deeds.

Exalt the LORD our God

And worship at His holy hill,

For the LORD our God is holy.”

(Psalm 99: 1-9 NASB)
  • WE MUST TRUST THE HOLY GOD, ONE TRUE GOD!
  • MOST DEFINITELY, WE CAN SEEK HIM!

Moses—God’s chosen servant, the chosen leader of the children of Israel—wrote these words, ones that speak to us still today.  May we heed the Word of God given to us!

“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have placed before you life and death, the blessing and the curse.  So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,
by
loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding close to Him;
for this is your life and the length of your days, so that you may live in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

(Deuteronomy 30: 19-20 NASB)

Rejoice, Exalt & Worship Holy God—Our LORD!
