Living in the Moment—One That Defines Our Life!
“for she was saying to herself, “If I only touch His cloak, I will get well.” (Matthew 9: 21 NASB)
“For she had been saying to herself, “If I just touch His garments, I will get well.” (Mark 5: 28 NASB)
“And a woman who had suffered a chronic flow of blood for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.” (Luke 8: 43-44 NASB)
- We can live in the moment!
- We can be touched by God!
Our God is able to do what people say He cannot do!
There was a woman, a bold woman, a woman who had suffered for twelve long years.
She had paid all she had to receive healing, had tried everything to be healed.
- Doubts were raised.
- Doctors were visited.
- Medicines were taken.
- Year-after-year, she could not be healed.
Then she heard about this man named Jesus who was in town, and she knew just what she must do.
The crowd was large; the people were difficult to squeeze past, but she knew she had to try to get close—to touch this man named Jesus.
“And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me? . . .” (Luke 8: 45a NASB)
Then Peter questioned how it would be impossible to know who specifically touched Jesus because the crowd of people was so large, and surely everyone was touching Jesus.
“But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had left me.” (Luke 8: 46 NASB)
Have we ever approached a life-changing moment?
Have we ever been changed, totally changed by the power of Jesus?
Have we ever received a touch that forever changed & defined our life?
- If we have approached the throne of God . . .
- If we have experienced the healing of God . . .
- If we have received total healing Jesus offers . . .
- If we have, then we know the exact moment, the defining moment, the life-changing moment—Jesus Christ came into our heart.
We know!
God knows we are mere dust, flesh and blood, weak vessels filled with doubt, so He provides Scripture to help us be sure—of the salvation, of the eternal life He offers—the LIFE we can receive.
- Just like the woman squeezing through the crowd that day, we too need Jesus.
- Just like the woman pressed upon from all sides, we too need to reach Jesus.
- Just like the woman who came as close as she could, we too need to only stretch out our hand, our heart to receive the healing Jesus offers.
- Just like the woman, she believed and said to herself: “If I only touch His cloak, I will get well.”
- Just like the woman, she believed and stretched out her hand, “If I just touch His garments, I will get well.”
She reached. She touched. She was healed.
Jesus immediately knew!
He turned.
“Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had left me.”
- This woman lived in the moment.
- This woman was healed within by the touch.
- This is not just some story.
- This is not just some Bible narrative that’s nice to read.
We too can live in the moment & We too can be touched by God!
“Now when the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came trembling and fell down before Him, and admitted in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched Him, and how she had been immediately healed.”
(Luke 8: 47 NASB)
- Her issue of chronic bleeding stopped in that moment,
BUT EVEN MORE
- Her life was defined in that moment!
Our God is able to do what people say He cannot do!
It was the words of Jesus her Savior that forever defined her life!
“And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.” (Luke 8: 48 NASB)
“And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be cured of your disease.” (Mark 5: 34 NASB)
“But Jesus, turning and seeing her, said, “Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.” And at once the woman was made well.” (Matthew 9: 22 NASB)
Hinged on that single moment, the woman desperately lived in the moment.
That Single Moment Defined Her Life Forevermore!
- She was changed by Jesus!
- She was forever healed!

Beyond knowing “about” the healing of Jesus & Beyond knowing a nice, little story “about” JESUS CHRIST, THE GREAT PHYSICIAN—REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW THE TOUCH OF JESUS CHANGES A PERSON’S LIFE FOREVER!
How are you suffering today?
What consumes your life?
What hinders your belief, year-after-year-after-year?
What healing can the Great Physician Jesus offer you today—in this moment?
- Just as Jesus spoke to that woman in her solitary moment, He will also speak to you today!
- Just as Jesus defined the woman’s life, He will define your life too!
- Just as she believed & reached out in faith toward Jesus, you too can be forever changed by Him!
- Just as she was immediately healed, you too can know that you know that you know Jesus came into your life!
Do not believe me, but only believe God’s Holy & Infallible Word. Let us read together.
“The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself;
(1 John 5: 10-13 NASB)
the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar,
because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.
And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
The one who has the Son has the life;
the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God,
so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
Son or Daughter—Everyone has a sin disease, one we have been born with, one that will lead us directly toward our death & forever separation from the presence of God.
- Apart from the healing touch of Jesus, we are doomed.
- Apart from the touch of Jesus, we cannot be healed.
- Apart from faith in Jesus, the Son of God, we die.
- When we reach out in faith, we are forever changed.
- When we step forward in courage, we are forever healed.
This moment will define our lives—forevermore!
May we believe; & May we receive Jesus—today!
