How Can We Ever PRAISE HIM Enough?!!!
How Can We Ever PRAISE HIM Enough?!!!
There is a melody that sings the sentiment I wish to express.
“Gratitude” by I AM THEY (with Cheyenne Mitchell).
Please pull out your earbuds, find this melody, stop doing whatever you are doing so that you will not be distracted, and listen, REALLY listen to the words of these lyrics.
This week, my Bible study has focused upon the seventeenth chapter of the Gospel of John, a most magnificent chapter.
“Jesus spoke these things; and raising His eyes to heaven, He said,
(John 17: 1-3 NASB)
“Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, so that the Son may glorify You
Just as You gave Him authority over all mankind, so that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.
And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the one true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
- We have a Great High Priest—His name is Jesus Christ!
- We have a Messiah who died so we could receive eternal life—His name is the Son of God!
- We have a Redeemer who saves us and sets us apart—His name is JESUS!
- We have a Lord who sent His Holy Spirit to dwell within us once we believe in Jesus—His name is the LORD!
- We have a Father who loves us So Much that He gave His Only Son—His Name is Almighty God, the Creator of Everything, our Father!
We have so much to be grateful for!
How Can We Ever PRAISE HIM Enough?!!!
In reading John 17, I found myself planted in two places: verses 9 & 10 and verses 14-20.
“I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on the behalf of those whom You have given Me, because they are Yours;
(John 17: 9-10 NASB)
and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them.”
- Jesus does not pray for the world in John 17; Jesus prays for His own!
- Jesus does not pray for the world of unbelievers in this high priestly prayer!
- HE DIED FOR THE WORLD!
- He died so the world might come to know Him as their Savior!
What more could Jesus ever do for those who are lost?!!!
Jesus sent His Holy Spirit to convict the world of their sins, to compel them to come to know Him in relationship.
Once we come to believe in Jesus, to receive the salvation of God through Jesus, we belong to Jesus!
WE BELONG—TO THE SON of GOD!!!
And not only that, but we belong to God!
WE BELONG—TO JESUS & TO GOD!
Because “all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; . . .” (John 17: 10a NASB)
We have so much to be grateful for!
How Can We Ever PRAISE HIM Enough?!!!
Then Jesus continues to pray for His disciples, those remaining eleven and for us who believe because of their witness. Jesus asks His Father to:
- Not take them (or us) out of the world. &
- Set them apart in the truth—the Word of God.
“I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
(John 17: 14-20 NASB)
I am not asking You to take them out of the world, but to keep them away from the evil one.
They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
Just as You sent Me into the world, I also sent them into the world.
And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, so that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.
I am not asking on behalf of these alone, but also for those who believe in Me through their word.”
May we dig deeply in God’s Word!
May we lead others to the Truth—God is Truth!
Those who believe in Jesus are set apart by the Word of God!
The Word of God reveals the mind of God!
- Jesus asks the Father to make His disciples holy by the Truth of God!
- Jesus asks the Father to make us (His disciples) holy by the Truth of God!
- Then Jesus sanctifies Himself so that we “also may be sanctified in truth.” (John 17: 19b NASB)
We have so much to be grateful for!
How Can We Ever PRAISE HIM Enough?!!!
My sin & Your sin are cancerous to our being, a growth that eats at us from the inside of our being.
- May we be spiritually immune—day-by-day & everlastingly so.
- May we be spiritually healed.
- May we daily receive an infusion of God’s Word, the sustaining, heartbeat of God, the TRUTH that draws us ever-closer to our Savior, Redeemer, Messiah, and King!
He Has a Name—JESUS CHRIST THE SON of GOD!
How Can We Ever PRAISE HIM Enough?!!!
“The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing;
(Hebrews 7: 23-25 NASB)
Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently.
Therefore He is also able to save forever those who come to God through Him,
since He always lives to make intercession for them.”
Please pull back out your earbuds, find this melody again, stop a second time from doing whatever you are currently doing so that you will not be distracted, and REALLY listen to the words of these lyrics.
