We Have A Story To Tell—Are We?
“So they were saying to him, “How then were your eyes opened?”
(John 9: 10 NASB)
Do we remember the day?
Can we recall the details?
Are we dwelling there, remembering just exactly what led us to SEE with clarity?
“He answered, “The man who is called Jesus made mud, and spread it on my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash’ ; so I went away and washed, and I received sight.”
(John 9: 11 NASB)
There once lived a man by the name of (King) Hezekiah. Now this man was no ordinary man but a man who followed God. During Hezekiah’s life, there was a time of unrest for the nation, and God instructed King Hezekiah to do something that would appear to be nearly impossible. King Hezekiah was to construct a waterway—one that would allow the water to flow into the city of Jerusalem & one that would allow the water to flow through the SOLID ROCK.
More than 2,000 years ago, an evil king from Assyria (King Sennacherib) was planning to attack and capture Judah.
“This is what Sennacherib king of Assyria says: ‘On what are you trusting that you are staying in Jerusalem under siege?
(2 Chronicles 32: 10-15 NASB)
Is Hezekiah not misleading you to give yourselves over to die by hunger and by thirst, saying, “The LORD our God will save us from the hand of the king of Assyria”?
Is it not the same Hezekiah who removed His high places and His altars, and said to Judah and Jerusalem, “You shall worship before one altar, and on it you shall burn incense”?
Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of those lands at all able to save their land from my hand?
Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed who could save his people from my hand, that your God would be able to save you from my hand?
Now then, do not let Hezekiah deceive you or mislead you like this, and do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to save his people from my hand or from the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God save you from my hand?’ “
- Did we see what the king of Assyria was REALLY saying to the people?
- Did we notice how King Sennacherib was taunting Almighty God?
- Does the world underestimate the power of God?
Matt Maher sings a wonderful melody that recounts exactly what our LORD does. Read today, 2 Chronicles 31 & 32.
SEE the POWER of the LORD & listen to Maher’s song “Your Love Defends Me.”
SEE THE MIGHT OF THE LORD GOD, THE CREATOR OF EVERYTHING!
King Hezekiah of Judah was a godly man, one who followed the LORD. We can read within the chronicles (the records of the kings) how this man of God “did what was good, right, and true before the LORD his God.
Every work which he began in the service of the house of God in the Law and in the commandment, seeking his God, he did with all his heart and prospered.” (2 Chronicles 31: 20b-21 NASB)
God calls all people to come to know Him in personal relationship through His Only Son Jesus, the ONE who came to provide the ONLY WAY to receive GOD’S SALVATION!
God wants ALL to come to know HIM!
What you and I do in service to God, in obedience to God, will change the world.
May we NEVER underestimate our obedience to our Father!
God gave King Hezekiah a specific task to do, one that changed a man’s life years later when this man (who was blind from birth) lay near the pool of Siloam.
“Now the rest of the acts of [King] Hezekiah and all his might, and how he constructed the pool and the conduit and brought water into the city,
(2 Kings 20: 20 NASB)
[into the city of Jerusalem that was under siege]
[by the evil and godless King Sennacherib, king of Assyria]
are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?”
In an article written this year (2023), the author explained how a tunnel was discovered in the year 2020, a conduit (a tunnel chiseled through stone) brought water into the city of Jerusalem years after it was carved through the SOLID ROCK.
- IT IS AMAZING how 2 Kings 20:20 explains how King Hezekiah (king of Judah) ordered a tunnel dug through solid rock just as King Sennacherib (the attacking king of Assyria) was taunting the people of Judah and their GOD!
- IT IS AMAZING how the tunnel was dug (diverting the water) allowing the water to come into Jerusalem & hiding the water from the enemy of the people—the same water that later sustained the lives of the people!
- IS IT NOT AMAZING HOW OUR GOD DISPLAYS HIS POWER!
- IS IT NOT AMAZING HOW OUR GOD DISPLAYS HIS MIGHT THROUGH MAN’S SHOVELS!
- IT IS AMAZING how YEARS LATER, a blind man met a man named Jesus JUST as this man who had been born blind lay beside the pool of Siloam—the SAME POOL created by the conduit King Hezekiah ordered!
- IT IS AMAZING, how YEARS LATER, a blind man met a man named Jesus who placed mud on this man’s eyes and restored his sight!
- IT IS AMAZING HOW IT IS THE LIVING WATER OF GOD HEALS THE LOST & MAKES THE BLIND SEE!
What we do today under God’s direction—impacts the world!
What we do in obedience to God—changes peoples’ lives!
Where we serve as we follow God—touches the lives of people across the globe!
ALMIGHTY GOD’S POWER IS NEVER BOUND BY LAND BORDERS!
ALMIGHTY GOD’S LIVING WATER COMES FROM WATER THAT’S MOVING!
GOD’S LIVING WATER IS CHANGING LIVES!
“So they were saying to him, “How then were your eyes opened?”?
(John 9: 10-11 NASB)
He answered, “The man who is called Jesus made mud, and spread it on my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash’ ; so I went away and washed, and I received sight.”
We Have A Task To Do—Are We Obediently Following God?
We Have A Story To Tell—Are We?
Do we remember the day?
Can we recall the details?
Are we dwelling there, remembering just exactly WHO MADE US SEE?
HEAVEN IS OURS FOREVER!
GOD HAS GIVEN US ONLY SO MANY DAYS TO WALK THROUGH LIFE!
- MAY WE NOT SQUANDER OUR TIME!
- MAY WE TELL OUR STORY—TELLING THOSE WE ENCOUNTER—HOW JESUS CHANGED OUR HEART!
THEN,
- MAY WE STAND—AMAZED AS THE HOLY SPIRIT DOES THE REST!
