“Even darkness is not dark to You”
As I sat in the morning, surrounded by the darkness caused by the lack of electricity pulsating throughout our community or into our homes, it was easy to see high up into the night sky. Last night, there was a fierce storm of rain and wind (mostly wind), and during the intensity, the power we so enjoy—was lost. Therefore, I sat in the fading light of the evening as the day became night and realized how difficult life really was when walking in the house, trapped in the dark.
Go with me into King David’s psalm and be reminded (as I was) of how God knows & sees—Everything—even though darkness permeates the world!
“LORD, you have searched
(Psalm 139: 1-12 NASB)
me and known me.
You know when I sit down
and when I get up;
You understand my thought
from far away.
You scrutinize my path
and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before there is a word
on my tongue,
Behold, LORD, You know it all.
You have encircled me
behind and in front,
And placed Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too
wonderful for me;
It is too high, I cannot comprehend it.
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from
Your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in Sheol,
behold, You are there.
If I take up the wings of the dawn,
If I dwell in the remotest
part of the sea,
Even there Your hand will lead me,
And Your right hand will
take hold of me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness
will overwhelm me,
And the light around me
will be night,”
Even darkness is not dark to You,
And the night is as bright as the day.
Darkness and light are alike to You.”
Oh, my goodness!
There is a message here that we really need to internalize, and here it is for us to never forget and to always remember.
- GOD CHOSE US!
- GOD WANTS US!
- GOD SEES US!
- GOD IS NEAR TO US!
- GOD SURROUNDS US!
GOD’S PRESENCE IS HERE & THERE & EVERYWHERE!
- NOWHERE CAN WE EVER GO THAT GOD IS NOT THERE, FOR GOD IS THERE TOO, EVEN WHEN WE SEEM TO WANDER AWAY FROM HIM!
- WE DON’T REALLY EVER PART FROM GOD EXCEPT IN OUR MINDS BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH WE SEEM TO MOVE—AWAY—WE SEE THAT IN REALITY, GOD HAS NOT EVER MOVED AWAY FROM US!
&
- GOD SEES ALL PARTS OF US, EVEN WHEN WE WALKED AROUND IN THE DARKNESS.
- GOD IS THERE TOO, IN THE DARKNESS.
In fact, “EVEN DARKNESS IS NOT DARK TO YOU, [GOD]
AND THE NIGHT IS AS BRIGHT AS THE DAY.”
WOW!
DOUBLE WOW!
WOW!
EVEN TRIPLE WOW!
WOW! WOW! WOW!
“DARKNESS AND LIGHT ARE ALIKE TO YOU.” [GOD]
Consider the power of God. There is something emotional, physical, and spiritual about the presence of God with us. Emmanuel. A word that we associate with Christmas and the coming of the Messiah, but we should place that word deep within our being because that is exactly where God exists—deep within His children—through the presence of His Holy Spirit.
Truly, I find that my fingers cannot type fast enough as I sit in the dark living room with the candle flickering beside me on the table. This is no ordinary candle but one blessed with three wicks, totally reminding me of the deity of God: FATHER, SON, & HOLY SPIRIT!
The fullness and wholeness of AMAZING JEHOVAH GOD—EMMANUEL!
The Apostle Paul reminds us how we did not just “stumble” upon God but that God chose each of us from the beginning—to become His. Now, it is true, some never accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, that still does not alter that Most-Holy God chose us—yes, every one of us—to become His children!
What a profound statement!
God wants every person alive to come into relationship with Him, but some remain wandering within the darkness of Sheol.
Please see with me the Word of God where the truth resides.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord
(Ephesians 1: 3-12 NASB)
Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in
Christ.
just as He chose us in Him before the
foundation of the world,”
[That means GOD chose us in & through JESUS—BEFORE GOD even formed the world.]
that we would be holy and blameless before Him.”
[That means—in JESUS is the ONLY WAY we are able to stand before GOD.]
“In love
He predestined us to adoption as sons and
daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself,
according to the good pleasure of His will,
to the praise of the glory of His grace,
with which He favored us in the Beloved.”
[Did we catch that? ALMIGHTY GOD WANTED US, FAVORED US, & IT IS ALL BECAUSE OF JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD!]
“In Him, [JESUS]
He made known to us the mystery of His
will, according to His good pleasure which
He set forth in Him,
regarding His plan to the fullness of the
times, to bring all things together in Christ,
things in the heavens and things on the
earth.
In Him we also have obtained an inheritance,
having been predestined according to
the purpose of Him who works all things in
accordance with the plan of His will,
to the end that we who were the first to
hope in the Christ would be to the praise of
His glory.”
On & On & On—I could have continued to type the truth found within the Word of God.
Because On & On & On—I am totally in awe in the amazing fact that God wants us to know Him!
Therefore, because God decided this—Yes, think about that for a moment!
Therefore, because God decided that He wanted us to know Him—
“He made known to us the mystery of His
(Ephesians 1: 9-11a NASB)
will, according to His good pleasure which
He set forth in Him
regarding His plan to the fullness of the
times, to bring all things together in Christ,
things in the heavens and things on the
earth.
In Him we also have obtained an inheritance, . . .”
GOD DID!
I am in awe of the MOST-AMAZING GOD who loved us so much that He wanted us, even before He fashioned the world, the mountain peaks, the lush valleys, or the oceans.
Before all that—God wanted us!
- May we soak in that glorious thought for a while.
- May we stay there forevermore.
- May we cry out, “THANK YOU, ALMIGHTY GOD, FOR WANTING US!”
The daylight has come, and the darkness of the night has slipped away.
- Nevertheless, the electricity that powers the house has not yet returned.
&
- Nevertheless, even in the darkness, the presence of God remains—because
“Even darkness is not dark to You [GOD],
(Psalm 139: 12 NASB)
And the night is as bright as the day.
Darkness and light are alike to You [GOD].”
As I finish typing, Rend Collective sings a melody into my earbuds, one that speaks to God’s message for us. Listen today & be reminded: “YOUR NAME IS POWER” !!!
