Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

How can a person know that he belongs to God?

How can a person know that he—belongs to God forevermore?

(You) Let Go

(You) Let God

In the world of words, one solitary letter can totally change the connotation and denotation of a single word.  GO—a word that commands action.  GOD—a word that commands authority.  Yet, if we look closely, we see a single letter, a tiny “d” separates the two.  One letter.  One key stroke.  One more action of the hand as a person writes one word into another word.  Nevertheless, God Himself commands each child of GodGo!

That’s right.  We are to “GO” make disciples!

That’s right.  We are to “GO” and we are to “TELL” the world about our Jesus!

We are to “Go & Tell” in the authority of Jesus Christ, fully trusting in where the Holy Spirit of God leads!

That is absolutely correct!

“And Jesus came up and spoke to them, [Jesus spoke to His disciples] saying, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to Me.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to follow all that I commanded you;
and behold,
I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

(Matthew 28: 18-20 NASB)

In the world of syntax, the “you” is emphatic; we know that we know that we know—it is YOU & it is ME who the Bible is written for, and every time we open to read the Scripture, God speaks to us.

The Word of God speaks individually to every person alive.

You—Yes, You!

Me—Yes, Me!

All of Us—Yes, Us!

Nevertheless, the Word of God speaks differently to each because—

  • Some who read belong to God already and
  • Some who are reading do not yet belong to God.

How can a person know that he belongs to God?

That’s a fair and most important question to ponder, and thankfully, we do not need to wonder at the answer because Jesus Himself, the Son of God, the Savior of the whole world, provides the answer.

Please read with me the words of Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

“My sheep listen to My voice,
and I know them,
and they follow Me;
and I give them eternal life;
and they will never perish;
and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
My Father,
who has given them to Me,
is greater than all;
and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
I and the Father are one.”

(John 10: 27-30 NASB)

“Stand” by Newsboys & Toby Mac features a modern-day look at the way a person can truly know if he belongs to God.  See the lyrics with me.

“I’m not ashamed.

I’ve considered the cost.

I’ll stay right here at the foot of the cross—and stand!”

How can a person know that he belongs to God?

He—Let’s Go!

He Let’s Go of all selfish desires, of all arrogance, of all jealousy, of all childish ways, of all boastful talk, of all of his inhibitions &

He—Let’s God have His way in all areas of the life of the child of God.

The Holy Spirit speaks to the child & the child responds.  Period.

  • We move our feet to go.
  • We speak our testimony as we give witness.
  • We put our hands to do.
  • We move our bodies in the ways God commands.
  • We share with the world all that God has given to us.
  • We know the Father intimately because we have shared time with Almighty God today, &
  • Then tomorrow, we respond again to the Father’s directive because we know that each day is a new opportunity to walk with our Lord.

Our Savior says to us:  “My sheep listen to My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; . .  .” (John 10: 27 NASB)

Our Lord speaks to us:  “and I give them eternal life; and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. . . .” (John 10: 28 NASB)

Our Messiah and Redeemer reminds us of our Father’s promise:  “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” (John 10: 29-30 NASB)

How can a person know that he belongs to God?

  • He hears the voice of God & He responds in obedience.
  • He hears the voice of the Father & he lets go & he lets God have His way.
  • He hears the voice of the Good Shepherd & he remembers how God saved his soul.
  • He hears the sweet stirring of the Holy Spirit to “go” and to “TELL” the world about his Jesus.

A person can know that he belongs to God BECAUSE HE DOES THE FATHER’S WILL!

  • May we (each child of God) live out our obedience to our Father!
  • May we (each believer) obediently do whatever God leads us to do!
  • May we (each Christian) lay down our cross and pick up God’s!
  • May we (each one redeemed) shout, sing, & speak the words God Himself gives to us!
  • May we let go &
  • May we let God have His way in our lives today!

“And Jesus came up and spoke to them, [Jesus’ disciplesto us!] saying,
“All authority in heaven and earth has been given to Me.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to follow all that I commanded you;
and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

(Matthew 28: 18-20 NASB)
