COMPLETELY Put on the “NEW” Self
Life can be a struggle sometimes, and we can find ourselves going through the motions, looking good on the outside. To the world watching, we’ve got it together. To the co-workers sitting near, we’ve figured this whole thing out, that we are on our way. To the worshippers sitting beside us inside the sanctuary, we play the part so well. Yet, we know the truth, and we feel the interior struggle. We hear the quiet whisper of the Holy Spirit speaking to our soul.
Will we continue as we are?
Will we turn from the way we are going?
- From the going through the motions?
- From the looking good on the outside?
- From the world watching and thinking we’ve got it together?
- From the co-workers sitting near thinking we’ve figured this whole thing out, that we are on our way?
- From those worshipping beside us who look and wonder?
& Turn instead toward the LORD?
Truly, we play the part of “looking Christian” so well.
In Act 2, Scene 7 of William Shakespeare’s drama As You Like It, he famously penned, “All the world’s a stage, and the men and women merely players.” Maybe ole’ Will said it right.
Quite truly we have the power to hide so much from the world.
We have the ability to “play” a role as the world watches, when—
Inside our being where only God sees, our Father reveals the truth of our heart!
Will we continue as we are?
OR
Will we—
- Turn from the way we are &
- Instead—Turn toward the LORD!
In the New Testament of the Bible, the Apostle Paul identified the truth about people. Paul journeyed as a missionary, going wherever the LORD sent Paul to preach, and as Paul went, he shared, interacted with others, and helped them see the truth of God. Through the Word of God, we see so much about ourselves—
- About our decisions &
- About our relationships &
- About our Christian walk.
Paul did this by leading us to see our lives, decisions, relationships, and Christian-walk—
within the Light of the Savior.
Please pause to read the Word of God with me as we completely consider every part of our earthly life.
“Therefore,
(Colossians 3: 1-5 NASB)
[Paul has just written about “self-made religion & humility &
the treatment of the body & living for the world]
if you have been raised with Christ,
keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on the things that are above,
not on the things that are on earth.
For you have died,
And your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, is revealed,
then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
Therefore,
[Paul reminds us that God has saved our soul &
Christ has overcome death &
our minds must be focused upon heavenly things,
that it is THROUGH CHRIST JESUS—WE HAVE LIFE!]
Treat the parts of your earthly body as dead
to sexual immorality,
impurity,
passion,
evil desire,
and greed,
which amounts to idolatry.”
Let us who are Christ’s
Put on the “NEW” Self!
Let us who are the children of God
Put on the “NEW” Self!
Let us who are the redeemed
Put on the “NEW” Self!
Let us who have accepted Jesus as Savior
Put on the “NEW” Self!
Let us who have accepted the higher calling
Put on the “NEW” Self!
Let us
Put on the “NEW” Self & Turn from all the things this world has to offer!
Let us
Put on the “NEW” Self & Turn away from all of Satan’s evil desires!
Let us
Put on the “NEW” Self & Turn FULLY TOWARD GOD!
