BE STILL & REST IN GOD!
- God knows that I like to be in control.
- He knows how I struggle with letting go.
- Even those who surround and love me, know my personality type and at times, even make jokes about the way I always like to be in the driver’s seat.
Yet, it’s the truth: Sitting Still OR Riding as Passenger OR Resting is just not me, but over the last few months, the Holy Spirit has whispered to my soul, “Child, maybe it’s time it should be who you are to be for this season—Resting in God.
“The LORD will fight for you, while you keep silent!”
(Exodus 14: 14 NASB)
Two days ago, while attending my daughter & son-in-law’s church, the pastor led us to see the remarkable story of Moses, Aaron, and Hur who led Joshua and the Israelites in victory over Amalek referenced in Exodus 17. Joshua was fighting and often winning the battle, but the victory was clearly the LORD’S battle to win over this warring nation led by the pagan king.
Today, in conjunction with those message points firmly planted in me, I find myself looking at the people—the Israelites—people just like you and me, flesh and blood, bossy people, grumbling and complaining people, and a large group of people who just KNEW what was best for themselves.
- Even though the Israelites were living in bondage to the Egyptians, God knew how (deep down) His children liked to be in control.
- Even though the Israelites had just reached the Red Sea and were told to stand and see the miracle God was about to do, God still knew how (deep down in their being) His children struggled to let go and let God lead.
- Even though the Israelites had just escaped from slavery, brutally hard toil, and oppression, God knew how His children metaphorically desired to be the ones sitting “in the driver’s seat.”
God knows His children. Oftentimes, God will allow unexpected circumstances, situations, or health issues to occur—things we do not understand—changing our life-plans or our daily-plans. It is in those times when we are to see God’s miracle & to notice how we handle the change God is bringing to our lives.
We only need to pause, to stop, to rest, to wait, to seek God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
We only need to allow ourselves to BE STILL & REST in GOD While HE LEADS!
“Is this not the word that we spoke to
(Exodus 14: 12-14 NASB)
you in Egypt, saying, “Leave us alone so that
we may serve the Egyptians”? For it would
have been better for us to serve the Egyptians
than to die in the wilderness!”
But Moses said to the people,
“Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD,
which He will perform for you today;
for the Egyptians whom you have seen today
you will never see them again, ever.
The LORD will fight for you, while you keep silent!”
- Do we sometimes doubt that all things are possible with God?
- Do we sometimes forget how we are to simply walk by faith?
- Do we sometimes forget that the Bible reminds us that God’s thoughts & ways are not ours?
- Do we sometimes doubt the healing power of the master physician?
- Do we sometimes fail to recall how God is God & we are not?
WALKING BY FAITH is simply believing that God will do what He said He will do!
As I write, the Holy Spirit leads me to hear a melody, one that speaks to the truth of God. “The Healing” by Blanca & Dante Bowe is truly one to pause and enjoy today.
As the children of God, may we see the children of Israel and recall the provision and care of God for them.
As the children of God, may we too:
- Be still & observe how GOD fights our battles as we stand with our hands lifted in praise to Him!
- Be still & watch how JEHOVAH GOD moves the mountains!
- Be still & step in faith as ALMIGHTY GOD parts our raging sea!
- Be still & see the miraculous power of the LORD!
- Be still & accept the healing from the GREAT PHYSICIAN!
BE STILL & REST IN GOD WHILE HE HEALS!
“Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD,
(Exodus 14: 13a & 14 NASB)
which He will perform for you today; . . .
The LORD will fight for you, while you keep silent!”
