May We Walk the Melody of Life—to Jehovah God!
PRAY & SING PRAISES TO GOD
My sister Mischele is a musician and vocalist. She has a passion for music. She moves to music. She hears the melody found within each song. She has the gift of retaining, of remembering the music (and words) of all the songs she hears.
Oftentimes at church, she steps out from behind the keyboard she plays in the praise & worship band to pick up the microphone as she moves to center stage to sing.
Then there are times at church when she steps out and picks up her tambourine.
Now, I have banged the tambourine against my thigh before, and whenever I did, that’s when I was reminded of how the melody or the skill to play does not reside within me. In those times, even “I” wished for me to stop banging the tambourine.
· The melody of praise.
· The sound of music.
· The beauty of song.
· The Hope rises as we lift our voices and worship God.
James, the half-brother of Jesus, who grew up in the same home with Jesus, wrote through the direction of the Holy Spirit. Listen to these words:
“Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray.”
“Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises.”
Clearly, James knew what it meant to suffer as he saw Jesus hanged upon the cross, and truly, James prayed that day, lifting words to God as he saw Jesus die.
With assurance, James knew Jesus intimately because James writes, reminding us to pray, and then amazingly, in the same breath, James reminds us to sing songs of praise to God.
Jesus Is the Son of God & Jesus Is the One who came to set the world free from their sin & Jesus Is the Messiah & the Savior of the world!
Jesus is the One we are to worship!
- Because It is a truth: God does not need you or me!
- & truthfully, God does not need any person He created!
- But, God has a purpose & a plan for humanity!
- And God allows us to have a part within His purpose which He reveals to us through prayer!
- God guides us through His Holy Spirit, teaching us how we are to pray during our days of struggles and also through our cheerful days!
May We Walk the Melody of Life—to Jehovah God!
The psalmist reminds us of this truth with these words:
“God be gracious to us and bless us,
(Psalm 67: 1-7 NASB)
And cause His face to shine upon us— Selah
That Your way may be known on the earth,
Your salvation among all nations.
May the peoples praise You, God;
May all the peoples praise You.
May the nations be glad and sing for joy;
For You will judge the peoples with fairness
And guide the nations on the earth. Selah
May the peoples praise You, God;
May all the peoples praise You.
The earth has yielded its produce;
God, our God, blesses us.
God blesses us,
So that all the ends of the earth may fear Him.”
· May we lift our hands as we worship to God! &
· May we lift our voices & our lives in melodious harmony.
· May we honor and glorify our Father in all we say and do!
· May We Walk the Melody of Life—to Jehovah God!
