Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Yes, that’s right!

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed.  A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much.”

(James 5: 16 NASB)

There is a blessing we receive once we know God as our Father.  Well, to be truthful, there are so many spiritual blessings we receive from God.  The Apostle Peter spoke of these within his letter within God’s Holy Word.  Pause with me to see them (God’s Spiritual blessings)

Yes, that’s right!

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

(1 Peter 1: 3-5 NASB)
  1. We are adopted into God’s family and now become His children.  Yes, that’s right!  God’s kids!
  2. We immediately receive a totally new nature from God, and this comes through His forgiveness of all our sins.  Yes, that’s right!  ALL our sins–forgiven and forgotten, forever!
  3. We are filled, our entire being, “sloshingly–full” with God’s Holy Spirit.  Yes, that’s right!  The power of God living inside us!
  4. We are given a Holy Inheritance by our Father.  Yes, that’s right!  This Inheritance we are given will never go away (Never! Ever!) & never fade away because God Himself sealed it and protects it for us until we arrive!

So, the question becomes:  Since we belong to God (you know, as His children) & Since we are filled with His Holy Spirit & Since we now have a brand-new nature about us as we live & Since God holds our inheritance protectively within His hand–What are we to do?

  • We are to confess our sins.
  • We are to be truthful.
  • We are to pray for one another.
  • We are to accomplish much while we are here.

The Christian band Third Day sings a melody “Offering” that seems to apply today for this topic.  Maybe we can pause and listen to these lyrics today and be reminded of what we need to offer to our Father.  If we want to SEE God, then we must open our hearts to hear the TRUTH of GOD!  May we never become so lackadaisical in our faith-walk that we have more zeal for the “self-imposed rules” than for a TRUE SPIRITUAL SENSITIVITY FOR GOD!

May we ask ourselves:  Am I willing to hear what God has to say to me?

Yes, that’s right!  Am I willing?
