One Breath Away!
One Breath Away!
Every one of us!
All—Every single person!
No one is exempt!
One solitary breath—that’s all that separates each one of us—away from death!
Are we ready to face our Creator?
Are we prepared to answer for our sins?
Are we able to stand before God alone?
Are we ready for Almighty God to judge us for ALL of ETERNITY?
EVERY PERSON:
- The ones who live “good” lives.
- The ones who live “bad” lives.
- The ones who have heard the Gospel message—at least once—who heard the truth.
- The ones who know the weight of their sin.
- The ones who felt the whisper of God’s Holy Spirit speak to their soul.
- The ones who heard the truth of the Gospel preached and responded to Jesus’ offer of Salvation with, “Yes, Jesus, save my soul.” & also those—
- Who heard the truth of the Gospel preached and responded to Jesus’ offer of Salvation with, “No, I’m not ready.” OR “No, not today.” OR “No, I don’t believe in You.”
EVERY PERSON ALIVE IS JUST ONE HEARTBEAT, ONE SOLITARY BREATH—AWAY FROM DEATH!
As we approach what the world sees as the most wonderful day—Christmas, we find ourselves focused upon the holiday, the gifts we will give and receive, the festivities, the food and the meals we will enjoy, the family functions we will attend, the games we will enjoy, the office parties to be attended, the church pageants to be viewed, the downtown tree lightings and parades to observe, the nativities to see, and even the time off work when the world seems to stop moving for one single day.
- As we approach Christmas day, we focus upon the babe born in the stable in Bethlehem.
- We see the star above the manger.
- We see the shepherds leaving their sheep to seek the Messiah.
- We read of the wise men of the east traveling later to visit the King.
- We study of Herod’s decree to kill all the babes under the age of two.
- We see Mary, the mother of Jesus, and Joseph, Jesus’ earthly dad, who were chosen.
- We read of Elizabeth’s birth of John the Baptist, how he, even unborn inside his mother’s womb, knew the truth of Jesus.
As we approach the most glorious day—Christ-mas day, we find ourselves focused upon the babe—Jesus!
Today, as we approach the most glorious day—Christ-mas day, may we also find ourselves focused upon the man—Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world!
In the Bible, we see the final day of life two men experienced, the day of their punishment upon crosses, hanged for their crimes. As we read, we also see how both faced their eternity and how one went to heaven, while the other went to hell. We read and we sense a sadness deep within us that the one did not believe in or accept Jesus Christ as his Savior, and we read and we exclaim with joy how the other one DID—ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS HIS SAVIOR!
Let’s us read the apostle Luke’s account together as we see the reality found in being only ONE BREATH AWAY—FROM DEATH!
“One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!”
(Luke 23: 39-43 NASB)
But the other responded, and rebuking him, said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our crimes; but this man has done nothing wrong.”
And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!”
And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
Remember me.
Your kingdom, Lord.
Lord, I am so close to my death, just a solitary breath away, yes, that’s where I am.
By the grace of God, I am given another breath.
One day, my final breath will be my last, and then it will be too late for me to decide.
I MUST DECIDE—NOW—TODAY—RIGHT HERE—BEFORE MY BREATHS RUN OUT & I DIE!
- Both criminals knew they were receiving the punishment due to them for their crimes, for their sins.
- Both criminals were hanged because they were judged and found “GUILTY!”
- Both faced their eternity that same day.
One went to hell, a place created for Satan and his demons; BUT THROUGH WHAT JESUS DID UPON THE CROSS OF CALVARY, RIGHT THERE, THAT SAME DAY, the other man went to heaven, to “Paradise!”
Hallelujah!!!!!!
Thank You, Jesus, for Your Salvation for we are, every single one of us, just One Breath Away!
!!!!!!
Everyone will face their own death. Today, while we still live, let us (every single one alive) cry out to Jesus: “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!” (Luke 23: 42b NASB)
Praise God—when we do, we will hear the most precious response of our Savior: “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” (Luke 23: 43b NASB)
Fear is not our future—YOU are—JESUS!
