Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Because the Bible proclaims the Truth—We believe it!

  • Can we imagine walking across the bed of a sea where the water once flowed, where once the water flooded so deeply that swimming across or boating across were the only options?
  • Can we picture within our mind walking across the dry bed of the sea, as the waters receded in “a heap” on both the left side and right side of our bodies?

I can scarcely imagine what that experience must have felt like, but it must have been mind-boggling & sensational & frightening—ALL ROLLED UP INTO ONE EMOTION!

That is what the Bible proclaims; this is exactly what the children of Israel saw That Day when Moses led them across the dry bed of the Red Sea, and because the Bible proclaims the truth, we believe it!

Let us think about that statement:  Because the Bible proclaims the Truth—We believe it!

As I read the Word of God, I am humbled by this fact—God gave us His Infallible Holy Word as a guidepost, as an example, as a future hope, and as a way to intimately know Him.  On and On, we could go, giving all the reasons the Bible was written for us; nevertheless, if we only focus upon the four listed above, then we could live there (in those reasons) for the entirety of our lives.

  • As a guidepost & As an example.
  • As a future hope & As a way to intimately know Him.

Go with me into the Word & let us see examples how these four reasons are revealed within the book of Isaiah.

As a guidepost & As an example.

“And the LORD will utterly destroy

The tongue of the Sea of Egypt,

And He will wave His hand over the Euphrates River

With His scorching wind;

And He will strike it into seven streams

And make people walk over in dry sandals.”

(Isaiah 11: 15 NASB 2020)

There is a place near the North Sea, a place where the tide rolls in and rolls out to sea.  When the tide rolls out, people can walk from the mainland to Texel, an island in North Holland of  The Netherlands.  This place exists; someone I dearly love has walked to this island numerous times.  Now, I believe it because I have seen her photos and because the Internet records such a place.

There is a place where we can find believable examples of the children of Israel walking across the dry land, across the dusty sand where the sea once raged.

In North Holland, there is a difference because this child I know walked across from the mainland of The Netherlands to the island, the bed of the sea was moist in her photos and not dusty dry as when the children of Israel walked through the two walls of water across the Red Sea.  Nonetheless, even though there is a difference, let us focus upon the fact that we can walk from here-to-there, across a bed of sand where a sea once flowed.  We could take a flight today across the ocean, land, strap on our sandals, and when the tide rolls out—we could walk across the sand, going from one side to the other side. One day soon, I will take this walk in The Netherlands with the Dutch girl I dearly love, and when I do, I believe I will see the tide roll out to sea, pulling the waters with it. I truly believe I will experience this walk much as the children of Israel felt—with my mind-boggled & with sensational amazement & even with a bit fright as I walk.

We read God’s Word & see how God provided them a “Guidepost” as Moses held up his staff over the waters.  This “Guidepost” & “Life-Marker” led them as they left a place of bondage and entered a New Land of freedom.  The Bible shows us how God controls the rivers, sends His scorching winds, divides the great Euphrates River into seven separate streams, and makes a way for people to walk across from shore to shore, coming to the bank of the other side—all while wearing dry sandals!

Almighty God did that miracle & Almighty God still does miracles!

What are we facing today, something from which we need God’s deliverance?

  • Are we willing to strap on our sandals and take the first step where once the fear of the ragging water once flowed?
  • Do we trust God?
  • Are we encouraged by the “Guidepost” God sets before us as we take our first step, walking where we have never walked, focused with our eyes upon the other side, faithfully stepping until we reach the other shore?
  • Are we reassured by the example He provides within His Holy Word?
  • Are we looking at our fear, our anxiety, and our situation—OR—THROUGH THE EXAMPLE GOD’S WORD RECORDS, ARE WE LOOKING TOWARD OUR “GUIDEPOST” AS WE KEEP OUR EYES UPON GOD?!

Because the Bible proclaims the Truth—We believe it!

As a future hope & As a way to intimately know Him.

There is a decision every single person alive must make!

That’s right!

It is a decision of upmost importance, one that holds an eternal consequence!

  • What will I do with Jesus?

“And there will be a highway from Assyria

For the remnant of His people who will be left,

Just as there was for Israel

On the day they came up out of the land of Egypt.

Then you will say on that day,

“I will give thanks to You, LORD; . . .

Behold, God is my salvation,

I will trust and not be afraid;

For the LORD GOD is my strength and song,

And He has become my salvation.” . . .

Rejoice and shout for joy, you inhabitant of Zion,

For great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

(Isaiah 11: 16 to 12:1a & 2 & 6 NASB 2020)

A decision every single person alive must make!

That’s right!

It is a decision of upmost importance, one that holds an eternal consequence!

  • What will I do with Jesus?

God’s Salvation provided to each of us through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus His Only Begotten Son!

There is a wonderful melody that speaks of what Jesus did upon the cross and in the grave so that each person may receive “a future hope & a way to intimately know God.”  Please take time today to listen to the melody by artists Kristian Stanfill, Tasha Cobbs Leonard & Anna Golden.

“What He’s Done!”

“All the glory and the honor to the Son

My sins are forgiven

My future is heaven

I praise God for what He’s done!”

“WHAT HE’S DONE!
  • Jesus made us a “highway” as a way to cross from the darkness of sin to the light of God.
  • Jesus’ shed blood upon the cross covers the multitude of humanity’s sins.
  • Jesus’ resurrection to new life from the death of the grave makes the way for us to receive the newness of life through Him.

Just as the children of Israel proclaimed on that day they crossed the Red Sea, walking across the dusty seabed that was once covered with the raging waters, we also proclaim:

“Then you will say on that day,

“I will give thanks to You, LORD; . . .

Behold, God is my salvation,

I will trust and not be afraid;

For the LORD GOD is my strength and song,

And He has become my salvation.” . . . .”

(Isaiah 12:1a & 2 NASB 2020)
  • Are we willing to take that first step of faith toward Jesus, toward God’s Salvation?
  • Do we trust God & what His Holy Word proclaims?
  • Are we walking through life, walking toward “the future hope & the only way to intimately know God”?
  • Are we faithfully walking within God’s Salvation, ALIVE as we’ve never been before, focused with our eyes fixed upon the other side—on heaven—faithfully stepping into every day, testifying to others about the goodness of God, faithfully serving God until we reach the other shore?
  • Are we reassured by the example He provides within His Holy Word?
  • Are we allowing ourselves to “Rejoice and shout for joy,” every moment of every day because Jesus has become the salvation of the world?
  • Are we walking through this brief life we have been granted, focused upon our fear & anxiety & situation—OR—ARE WE FIXING OUR EYES UPON OUR “FUTURE HOPE” & THE RELATIONSHIP WE CAN ENJOY AS WE “INTIMATELY KNOW HIM—FATHER GOD”?!

Because the Bible proclaims the Truth—We believe it!

Truly, I am humbled by this fact—God gave us His Infallible Holy Word as a guidepost, as an example, as a future hope, and as a way to intimately know Him.

So, today, let us do as the Bible leads us.

“Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature;  a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away;

but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory;

the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood;  for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; . . .”

BUT HALLELUJAH JESUS ENDURED THE CROSS—FOR EACH ONE OF US!

“For to us God revealed them through the [Holy] Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.”

(1 Corinthians 2: 6-8 & 10 NASB 2020)
  • Let us not be silent.
  • Let us open our hearts and our mouths and “speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory;”
  • Let us be bold & courageous.
  • Let us open God’s Word as “the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God,” &
  • Let us SEEK to KNOW GOD!

We can believe it—because the Bible proclaims the TRUTH!
