CONSIDER the ENORMITY of GOD’S SALVATION!
John Piper—“The amazing love of God . . . gave us life when we were dead, and caused us to be born again, and brought us into the family of God.”
- Amazing—LOVE of GOD!
- EVERLASTING LIFE!—When We Were Dead.
- BORN (AGAIN) of GOD!
- Brought Into—The FAMILY of ALMIGHTY GOD!
Have we ever REALLY considered the action that occurred at the moment of our salvation?
Today, that particular thought permeates my being.
The apostle Paul was a changed man—from persecutor Saul to saved man, Paul.
Paul knew. He remembered “how” he had been before his sins were coved by the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
Paul comprehended the ENORMITY of GOD’S SALVATION!
In a letter written to the church of Ephesus, Paul spoke of the way believers are “made alive in Christ.” Please see with me God’s Treasured & Holy Word.
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
even when we were dead in our transgressions, [walking dead in our sins]
[God] made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
and raised us up with Him [raised with Christ], and seated us with Him [seated with Christ] in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
so that in the ages to come He might [Amazing, Almighty God might] show the surpassing riches of His grace [of God’s Amazing grace] in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
(Ephesians 2: 4-7)
As I approach the age of fifty-six, I find myself no longer young, and (to be quite honest) I do not exactly enjoy this transition period—from young to old(ER). Consider the way our bodies age:
- Our Core Becomes Weak
- Our Back Becomes Weak
- Our Legs Become Out of Shape
- Our Arms Become Flimsy
- Our Eyes Wear Out, Losing The Ability to See With Clarity
- Our Hips Cause Us Pain
“Old Age,” well, I just find it NOT for MY LIKING!
Our memory of days-gone-by when our body was strong are a pleasant memory.
People can work hard to not allow this changing body to become a reality, prolonging the change of body from young to old, but even if we work out for two hours every single day from age thirty to ninety, still our body will grow OLD-ER. While it is true that we can hasten or slow this process with proper diet and exercise, still the aging process is irreversible (unless we die young & who wants to do that!).
- God created us, & God knows our body.
- God created us, & God knows our sinfulness.
- God created us, & God still loves us.
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, . . .”
(Ephesians 2: 4)
- God sees us, & God still wants us.
- God sees us, & God still wants to make us alive in Him.
- God sees us, & God still wants us to come home to heaven.
“even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ . . .”
(Ephesians 2: 5)
- God’s Mercy!
- God’s Love!
- God’s Amazing Grace!
“(by grace you have been saved), . . .”
(Ephesians 2: 5)
- God alone has the power to raise a person from the dead.
- God alone has the power to seat a person in the heavenly places with Jesus.
- God alone!
“and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, . . .”
(Ephesians 2: 6)
- CONSIDER the ENORMITY of GOD’S SALVATION!
- CONSIDER the ENORMITY of GOD’S SALVATION!
- CONSIDER the ENORMITY of GOD’S SALVATION!
“so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
(Ephesians 2: 7)
- THANK YOU, GOD, for YOUR LOVE!
- THANK YOU, GOD for SENDING YOUR SON!
- THANK YOU, GOD, for YOUR HOLY SPIRIT!
- THANK YOU, GOD, for NOT LEAVING US DEAD in our SIN!
- THANK YOU, GOD!
The apostle Paul was so right.
John Piper was so right.
All the witnesses that came before us were so right.
“The amazing love of God . . . gave us life when we were dead, and caused us to be born again, and brought us into the family of God.”
- HELP US TO REMEMBER THE PRICE!
- HELP US TO REMEMBER WHAT JESUS GAVE!
- HELP US TO GLORIFY GOD—IN EVERYTHING & IN EVERY WAY.
- HELP US REMEMBER THAT OUR BODIES ARE THE TEMPLE OF GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT!
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
For you have been bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.”
(1 Corinthians 6: 19-20)
- Without a doubt, let us not focus so much on the “aging process” of our earthly body, but let us focus upon the power of God living inside us.
- Without a doubt, let us remember that we are “just passing through” this life, walking home toward our heavenly home in glory.
- Without a doubt, let us testify; let us witness; & let us BE the hands and feet of Jesus.
- Without a doubt, let us ALWAYS CONSIDER THE ENORMITY of GOD’S SALVATION!
