Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Do You Think It’s a Good Thing . . . ?

Do you think it’s a good thing for Christians to focus on our morality?

Do you think it’s a good thing for Christians to remember the terminal “dustiness” of our being?

Do you think it’s a good thing for Christians to recall the mortality and brokenness and lostness from which we have come through by the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ?

Do you think it’s a good thing for Christians to realize the pain and torment that come from the consequences of our own sin?

Do you think it’s a good thing for Christians to recognize our need for the Savior from the moment we arise from our slumber—throughout all parts of our midday—then as we place our heads upon our pillows to sleep?

Do you think it’s a good thing for Christians to walk among the peoples of the world, sharing Jesus, living out the love of God, and obeying the leading of the Holy Spirit?

Do you think it’s a good thing for Christians to jump and shout and raise our hands high in praise and worship to the King of Kings?

I THINK SO.

It is a Good Thing!

I think it’s a good thing for a Christian to do ALL of the ABOVE!

The Word of God (the Bible) tells us—It is a Good Thing.

The “Good Book” tells us—It is a Good Thing.

The preachers, teachers, & evangelists of this world tell us—It is a Good Thing.

The man who was known as the “man after God’s own heart” tells us—It is a Good Thing.

SEE WITH ME THE WORD of GOD.

“O God, You are my God;  I shall seek You earnestly;

My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,

In a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary,

To see Your power and Your glory.

Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,

My lips will praise You . . . . [forever & ever & ever & ever]

So I will bless You as long as I live;

I will lift up my hands in Your name—[in Jesus’ name].

My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness,

And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips . . . . [day & night]

When I remember You on my bed,

I meditate on You in the night watches,

For You have been my help,

And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy . . . . [over & over & over & over]

My soul clings to You,

Your right hand upholds me.”

(Psalm 63: 1-8)

God is Sovereign!  He reigns all the time.

In our sickness—God reigns!

In our good times—God reigns!

In our despair—God reigns!

In our “happy” days—God reigns!

In our days of mourning—God reigns!

In our weariness—God reigns!

In our times of joy—God reigns!

In our season of prosperity—God reigns!

In our moments of new love—God reigns!

In our stress & worry—God reigns!

In all times, all moments—God reigns!

Our calendars, our clocks, our days, & our lives—are in God’s hands!

On this second day of the Lentil season, may we exclaim—

“O God, You are my God;  I shall seek You earnestly;

My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,

In a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary,

To see Your power and Your glory.

Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,

My lips will praise You.”

as we prepare for resurrection sunday

On this day, we know—It Is a Good Thing to tell the world—

“So I will bless You as long as I live;

I will lift up my hands in Your name.

My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness,

And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.”

our daily worship

Throughout this life God has given us to walk, to be, to share Jesus with the lost found in the world—We Do KNOW It’s a GREAT Thing to proclaim—

“My soul clings to You,

Your right hand upholds me.”

(Psalm 63: 1-8)
