The Answer to the Most Essential Life Question!
The Question: What can we count on today?
- The price of gasoline to remain low enough to go where we need to go—NO—The price is ever changing and could SUDDENLY sweep upwards creating a need to ration our usage.
- The cost of living to stay affordable so that despite how many moves into our home, we have enough money to purchase the necessities and still have some money left over—NO—The promise of money is DEFINITELY NOT the promise God made with His people.
- The security of our position at work knowing that despite what occurs, the company, the school, the whomever and whatever is secure—NO—Jobs and Careers come and go because supply and need changes ALWAYS causing companies, schools, and everything to change.
- The people we call our own (as in our own family, our own friends, our own neighbors, or even our own selves) to ALWAYS be Reliable and Faithful—NO—People are People are People with their own issues and agendas, and what’s more people are just like us—sometimes fickle.
- The weather we walk within each time we arise from our slumber—NO—Despite whether we wear shorts and a t-shirt OR an overcoat and boots OR even our favorite jeans and button-down, ALWAYS, we must be prepared for changing weather.
It’s a sad thought to consider what we CAN & CANNOT count on today or tomorrow or even the next twenty tomorrows.
Therefore, the Question May Become: What can we count upon?
Or an Even Better Question—WHO can we count upon Today & Tomorrow & the Tomorrow After Tomorrow?
I believe we know the answer to this most essential life question.
God’s Word speaks of the Changeless Christ and the trustworthy, reliable, faithfulness of God but do not believe me; READ with me & SEE.
“Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
(Hebrews 13: 7)
Truthfully, there is so little, if anything, that is reliable or trustworthy or faithful in this present world BECAUSE this side of heaven, this world is comprised of people just like us (just like me)—the humanity in need of a Savior.
- I clearly remember those (people) who led me, who spoke the Word with me, who prayed for my salvation, who prayed for my eyes to be opened.
- I can see the result of those people’s conduct because I am a believer and because I have been a child of God since the age of fifteen.
- I clearly can imitate their faith as I walk through my life, testifying of God, teaching, studying God’s Word, witnessing, sharing, loving others, and sacrificing my will for my day so that I may do God’s will.
THUS, WHO can we count upon Today & Tomorrow—Answering the Most Essential Life Question?
The Bible is CLEAR!
The Bible Is the “inspired” Word of God. INSPIRED by GOD HIMSELF!
Since God is 100% TRUSTWORTHY!
Since God is 100% FAITHFUL!
Since God is 100% LOVE!
Since God is 100% UNCHANGING!
Since God is 100% UN-MATCHLESS & OMNISCIENT & OMINIPOTENT & OMNIPRESENT!
SINCE GOD IS GOD!
&
Since we are NOT God but rather because we are HIS CREATION!
THEN, there is only ONE SINGLE ANSWER TO THE MOST ESSENTIAL LIFE QUESTION!
God is our Mirror.
God is our Compass.
God is our Father, Savior, & Friend.
Everything we “think” we need to survive & Everything we “think” we can trust & Everything we “think” will aid us in the building of our earthly lives can all be contained within one or two words: God’s Word.
We have just stepped into a newness of time, an opportunity for all of us to begin anew. Maybe there is a habit we wish to cease OR one we wish to begin.
Maybe there is a food or drink we wish to stop consuming.
Maybe there is a relationship we hope to repair OR one we need to leave.
Maybe there are several life-items that need our attention because we have allowed our lives to fall into disrepair.
DESPITE WHAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED, LET US PLACE OUR EYES ON THE CHANGELESS CHRIST.
DESPITE WHAT NEEDS ATTENTION IN OUR LIVES, LET US PLACE OUR TRUST IN GOD’S GUIDANCE.
DESPITE WHAT NEEDS ALTERATION WITHIN OURSELVES, LET US TURN TO GOD’S WORD FOR HIS DAILY DIRECTION.
Today, I end my writing with this beautiful note: Since arriving at my daughter’s house, I have enjoyed a beautiful time visiting with her husband and her (and playing with Maple). God has provided this most wonderful Christmas gift for me, and I thank God every day for His provision and care over my life. Today, after church, I will take the train to another home, one filled with those God gifted me to know a few years ago. I know God has given me this Christmastime journey; I know God has worked out all the details; & I know God has laid something upon my heart to do during my visit within this second home I will visit today.
God is Faithful—Honorable—Loving—True—Unchanging—&—Worthy of All Praise!
May we (and may I) respond in like-faithfulness to our Lord.
The Holy Spirit has reminded me all night of His truth: “Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; . . . .
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13: 7)
The Holy Spirit reminds us daily—even today—of the important work God provides for us to DO as we Journey through life. He also reminds us how we are to WALK with our LORD:
God provides for us every single day! God Is Amazing Goodness!
God provides a doorway, an opportunity to witness of His Amazing Goodness—Every single day! God Is Our Father & Our Provider & Our Comfort!
God provides us a decision to make every single day! God Is Amazingly Good & Faithful & True!
Clearly, we KNOW the ANSWER to the MOST ESSENTIAL LIFE QUESTION!
“Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.
And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
(Hebrews 13: 15-16)
Praying! ❤️
I love you so much–for remembering to pray. I was reminded last night when I arrived and sat with them around the table how difficult this task just might be, but I am confident and assured that our God is so much greater than my fear. I am trying to be still and listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Edwina, I am so thankful that we walk through life together.
Have a most wonderful day.
