Truly…May We Dance Today
I love to dance, but when I do, I do not look like others who are dancing there beside me. No, my rhythm is nowhere close to what it should be.
My sisters, and my daughter, and my nieces, and several of my friends, well, when they dance, it is so pretty to watch.
Does that mean we should not dance (if our rhythm and steps are a bit slow)?
Does that mean we should not dance if we are taught the particular dance steps, only to dance them for one wedding and then need to be re-taught, to need to re-learn again at the next wedding reception?
Most certainly not!!!
Rhythm is often difficult to find in life as much as it can be on the dance floor. We go from day-to-day, going from task-to-task, working to accomplish all that we know we need to do within the span of this one day—only for two things to occur.
We either give up and go home, exhaustedly fall into bed, drained and hoping the night of rest passes slow enough to fully rest and prepare us to face the tasks of the new day.
OR
We go home dejectedly knowing that we failed to accomplish our tasks, stressed and unable to rest nor enjoy our family because we cannot remove our work from our mind.
OR
We pray at the start of the day, at the noontime hour and again at the end of the workday. As we pray, we give our day and our daily tasks to God to direct our steps and to guide our hands, asking God to help us accomplish what we can do (through His strength). We look to God for our daily rhythm.
- Sure, we will still have a healthy amount of stress..&
- Sure, we may still not finish all our tasks..&
- Sure, we may still have unproductive days (by our human standards)..&
- Sure, we may have more to do than we have enough day to do all the tasks..&
- Sure, we will have days, seasons of days even, when we dance badly, when we look like we need to just sit down and stop—dancing.
BUT WE DON’T—STOP DANCING.
BUT WE SEEK GOD & HIS RHYTHM for THIS ONE DAY, THIS ONE SONG WE SING & DANCE in HONOR & PRAISE to OUR KING.
- More than anything, God wants us to trust Him.
- More than anything, God wants us to read, to study His Word and believe it.
- More than anything, God wants us to realize that our God is a promise-keeper.
- More than anything, God wants us to believe in His goodness…&
- More than anything, God wants us to believe 100% in His unconditional love for us.
On the day when Jesus allowed Himself to be interrupted on his walk toward the synagogue official’s house, we find Jesus stopping in the moment to meet a woman’s personal need. Yes, Jesus was not to hurried to stop, to heal, to lead the woman to know Him more, and to be saved for all eternity.
Then when Jesus turned to go on with Jarius, toward his home and sick child, Jarius learned the terrible news that his daughter had died.
“But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, said to the synagogue official [to Jarius], “Do not be afraid any longer, only believe” (Mark 5:36).
We offer praise and worship to our Father when we sing and dance before the King of Kings. That means, even when we are out of step, stumbling from dance step to dance step, we continue dancing—twirling and lifting our hands in adoration to Almighty God.
We are saved by God’s amazing grace.
We are to live in that same amazing grace, day-by-day and step-by-step. That means, even when we are out of step, turning to the right a step behind the rest of the dance line, we continue dancing–raising our hands toward God, praising, and thanking Him for saving us for all eternity.
Truly, life is a dance.
May we never stop dancing.
May we never worry when our rhythm seems slow and a bit–off.
May we continue dancing for Him.
May, we dance only for our Savior, LORD, and Father God.
Truly,………May We Dance Today!!!!
