Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Conversations—–What Are We Continually Saying?

If you are like me, you enjoy talking; in fact, when asked the other day by my sister, the question arose:  “Scott, do you think Nancy likes to talk?”  He raised his eyes, locked them on me, and slowly shook his head in affirmation indicating “SOMETIMES, YES, SHE DOES LIKE TO TALK.” Yes, I suppose I do……enjoy talking. My husband tells me often how I enjoy asking questions.

So, then in considering our conversations, we must consider the content we most enjoy discussing.

What topic readily comes to our mind when we talk with others?

What topic readily comes to mind when others think of you?

What topic readily comes to mind when we consider what we most enjoy studying?

What topic?

What place?

What habit?

What hobby?

What career skill?

What…..What…..What…..What do we find ourselves discussing most?

What person?

What name comes readily to mind when we arise?

What name comes readily to mind when we drift off to rest?

What name comes readily to mind when we face adversity?

What name comes readily to mind when we enjoy blessings of life?

What name?

Talking is a huge part of a teacher’s career.  In classroom after classroom, instructors find themselves talking with students, listening to students, and helping students.  If a teacher is a believer in God (in understanding a power far greater than her own), then a teacher’s career may be found in praying over students, meeting students’ needs beyond the classroom, and attempting to find ways to share Jesus with those who have been entrusted into her care.

There is a statement that goes something like this:  “They (others) will not care what we have to say, what subject we teach, until they know we care, really care, about them (the others).  If we put that in relation to our faith, then we can say, “Others will not care what we have to say about the LORD JESUS CHRIST until they know we really care about each one of them (as a person) and their individual needs.”

Sharing Jesus is basically this—Love the LORD with all our heart, soul, and mind & Love the lost.  That’s it.  Simple.  Direct.  When we love the LORD, then we take His Word, the Scripture with us inside our heart, Scripture we have memorized, Scripture we can apply to our situations and to theirs, Scripture the Holy Spirit of God supplies as we talk with others….and we love people JUST WHERE THEY ARE, JUST AS THEY ARE, & JUST AS THEY COME INTO OUR LIVES. THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD DOES THE REST!!!

Our task:  Prayerful Obedience.  Willingness to be a Voice Speaking.  Trusting God’s Timing as He Leads Our Conversations.

Thank You, God.

Yes, Thank YOU, GOD, for the glorious conversations YOU gave to us yesterday, opportunities to share YOU, and to discuss the ways YOU have led us through the adversity of Coronavirus and time of separation, to share how YOU have walked those we love into their death, to share how YOU lead us daily……yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Thank You, God…..for Conversations—for giving to us a conversational topic worthy of speaking.  GOD, THANK YOU for YOU.

In the Bible, we are given so many opportunities to see how to share Jesus with the lost.  In Paul’s second letter to the people living in Corinth, Paul writes these words (to help us see)…..

“If I have to boast, I will boast of what pertains to my weakness.

The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, He who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying.”

(2 Corinthians 11: 30-31)

God gives us opportunities daily to be a voice in this world.  We speak to others of our weakness, of our trials, of our adversities, and of our health concerns.  May we use these conversations to speak the truth, to speak the Person…..to speak JESUS……the only name worth speaking.  Let us boast of Him, of our LORD, the ONE who is most worthy to be spoken, continually spoken, over and over and over.
