Our Whole Self
Head. Heart. Arms. Hands. Legs. Feet.
What body part belongs to God?
Seriously.
When we choose to believe, to accept Jesus as our Savior, and to receive salvation, what body part do we give to God?
Usually, whenever we consider our salvation, we consider what Jesus gives to us.
Right?
Jesus gave His life so we could receive salvation.
Think about this for a moment.
1. God gave His Only Begotten Son, Jesus.
2. Jesus gave up His place in heaven with God to come in human form—as a babe in the manger.
3. Jesus gave up His life as the only way to save ours.
4. And Jesus willingly gave His life upon the cross to provide the only way possible to share eternity with God.
God Gave to Humanity.
Jesus Gave to Humanity.
What does Humanity Give to God in return? What do believers Give to Jesus?
Our Head.
Our Heart.
Our Arms.
Our Hands.
Our Legs.
Our Feet.
When we chose to follow God, what body part did we (do we) give to Him?
Do we give God our every thought?
Do we give God our emotional state that stirs within our heart?
Do we give God our arms reaching to embrace those who are hurting?
Do we give God our hands to hold others as we lead them to see Jesus?
Do we give God our legs as they carry us to serve our neighbors, to help meet their needs?
Do we give God our feet to wear shoes as we go wherever God sends us to go & do whatever God bids us to do?
OR…………
Do we give God only the parts of our body that are convenient for us to give to God? &
Do we focus upon our daily needs and wants more than the needs and wants of others?
What body parts do we willingly give to our Father who faithfully gives to us salvation?
Maybe we should also ask—-What part of our existence do we wish for God to save for eternity with Him? Do we wish to be 1/8 Saved? 1/3 Saved? or 4/5 Saved?
I think we would agree that we desire to be TOTALLY 100% SAVED——-ALL of our BODY, SOUL, & MIND—-SAVED & SECURE WITH GOD.
Today is a most beautiful day of the week to share quiet time with our LORD. As we do, let us think about our body.
Our Mind. Our Heart. Our Arms & Hands. Our Legs & Feet.
Let us take a good long look at ourself in the mirror of God. As we stand in front of God’s mirror and see ourselves, could it be that we will see some imperfections, some characteristics we possess that do not reflect the image of Jesus?
We don’t have to become panicked over all the ways we have failed. Not at all.
Today is a brand new day to obey God.
Today is a brand new day to follow Jesus.
Today is a brand new day to be led by God’s Holy Spirit.
We just have to choose to Obey, to Follow, and to Be Led. It begins every day anew because the Bible tells us that God’s mercies are new every day. God’s forgiveness for yesterday’s sins, trusting God who is faithful. God is a God of forgiveness……..Every Day.
Then we step into today, forgiven, fresh, and focused upon our LORD and Savior.
The Bible is so clear. We are told to accept God’s salvation and walk with Jesus as LORD of our every day.
***Quite Simple.
***Quite Profound.
***Quite Amazing.
“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.
But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.
For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2: 12-16).
We are natural at our birth.
We become spirit-filled at our second birth.
We are filled with child-like thoughts and actions at our natural birth.
We are to be changed, more and more, into the image of Jesus after our second birth.
God gives us His salvation, and we give ourselves, our lives, to God.
Our Head—Focusing Our Thoughts Upon God.
Our Heart–Loving Others As Jesus Loved.
Our Arms–Reaching Out To The Lost.
Our Hands–Serving Others in Jesus Name.
Our Legs–Walking Daily With God.
Our Feet—Going Where God Leads.
Today is a Good Day to begin anew.
Let us give up our natural man and fully embrace the spiritual man we have been given.
WHY?
Because we have [been given] the mind of Christ” (verse 16).
