Trust God, and Make Yourself Ready for a Miracle.
This is a simple statement, one that reveals so much about your faith. “Trust God,” are two words we speak to others and to ourselves, but do we TRUST GOD? Do we TRUST HIM with our plans today? Do we TRUST OUR SAVIOR with our tomorrow? Do we TRUST OUR LORD with our everything: our relationships, our careers, our dreams, and our loved ones? The Word of God speaks of a Roman soldier who displayed such trust, knowing how the Lord Jesus merely could speak the word and the centurion’s servant could be healed. It’s as if the officer knew the Jewish tradition about how a Jew would be defiled if he entered a Gentile’s home, how Jesus could be miles away from the Roman’s soldier’s house where the sick one (the Gentile) lay and still the power of the spoken word emitting from the Lord could heal the one who lay on the bed, sick.
Do we Trust God with that depth of faith?
“And when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, imploring Him, and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, fearfully tormented.”
(The Gospel According to Matthew 8: 5-8 NASB)
Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
But the centurion said, “Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof,
but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.”
Trust. We have chosen to trust the Father with our own lives, with our own plans, with our futures, but what about those who are influenced by our faith? Do we rely upon the power of the LORD to touch their lives through our faith, to change their plans through our testimonies, and to receive salvation through the witness we speak? Do we, or do we think it’s our own power, our words, our actions, our beliefs that shape those we love? The centurion had heard the truth of Jesus’ power, and the news traveled to his home. He believed and he trusted. The Roman soldier also knew his Gentile place, and was aware of the unworthiness that he felt because he was not Jewish as Jesus. This centurion knew the psalm, the one that demonstrated power.
“He sent His word and healed them,
(The Psalms 107: 20 NASB)
And delivered them from their destructions.”
He trusted Jesus Christ, the Son of God and awaited the miracle he just knew Jesus could perform, even miles away from the room where his sick servant lay.
- “Just say the word, Jesus, and I know my servant can be healed.”
- “Just speak, Lord, and I know my friend can be made well.”
- “Just voice healing, my Savior, and just like that, the one I care for will be made well, physically and spiritually.”
Faith is demonstrated in the smallest of ways. A Prayer. A Word Spoken. A Bowing on one’s Knees. A Phone Call. A Letter Written. A Raising of One’s Hands in Praise for what the LORD is already doing.
Do we Trust God with that depth of faith?
As we begin today trusting the Lord just as this centurion, we are able to see the miracles. Jesus knows our situations, our desires of the depths of our hearts. He hears our whispered prayers from deep in our beings, the ones we are afraid to voice aloud. He hears us; He sees our faith and even our trepidation, and still Jesus touches the lives of those around us.
Our task: See the Miracles and Stand Amazed.
“And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed.”
(The Gospel According to Matthew 8: 13 NASB)
And the servant was healed that very moment.”
Today, may you and I Trust God, and Make Ourselves Ready for a Miracle He Will Do. When we show Faith, others are privileged to see how the Lord plans to work through us within the lives of them, those we encounter. There is no possible way we can see into the future moments of this day, but He can, and so, our only action of FAITH that we must do is Walk in God’s Will and Share in His Blessing.
