Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Sweet Surrender

Sometimes we just feel defeated, and then there are times when we just feel as if we are beaten down by the things in the world.  Maybe we have encountered heartache.  Maybe we have experienced loss.  Life can become difficult to walk through in a matter of hours, minutes, and even in the space of seconds.  “Why, Oh Lord?” we may exclaim when persecution or trouble or despair lands upon us.  It is in this, when in the midst, we can fall on our knees and surrender our hearts to the LORD, who knows our suffering.

It is then—in the middle of that which we cannot control, stop, or run from—we must remember:

GOD Wants Us to Trust Him.

“For thus says the Lord God,
“How much more when I send My four severe judgments against Jerusalem:  sword, famine, wild beasts and plague to cut off man and beast from it!
Yet, behold,
survivors will be left in it who will be brought out, both sons and daughters.
Behold, they are going to come forth to you and you will see their conduct and actions;
then you will be comforted
for the calamity which I have brought against Jerusalem for everything which I have brought upon it.
Then they will comfort you when you see their conduct and actions,
for you will know that I have not done in vain whatever I did to it,”
declares the Lord GOD.”

(The Book of Ezekiel 14: 21-23 NASB)

When we arise and when we lay down in our beds, we are to lift our hearts to praise the LORD, for HE knows what HE is doing.  HE DOES!

The LORD looks with clarity into the past, sees without bias the present day, and totally understands the future.  We cannot.  That’s right, because our past can be clouded by thoughts of what we felt in our emotions, and our present might be affected by the pain we currently feel.  Certainly, we cannot see the future work the LORD is going to do.  So, we are left with only one response:  Sweet Surrender.

  • For sure, where would we be if Jesus had never come to earth?
  • Most assuredly, what would be our future if GOD had never sent HIS Only Son?

Praise God, for we have eternal Hope because the LORD loves us so!

Let us dwell there, & may we not stop listening to HIS sweet voice calling us to walk by faith.  Even when heartache makes us feel so lonely, and we are led to think that no one understands how we feel or what we’re going through.  Even there—in the midst of our deepest heartache—we are to remember that GOD IS STILL THERE!  It is there in our brokenness, we need Jesus.

  • JESUS understands suffering.
  • HE reminds us how HE has been there.
  • JESUS knows what it means to be beat down and feel deep pain.

When we do not know what words to say; even then, we must proclaim the only word that brings peace:  JESUS!

  • Sweet Surrender:  GOD Wants Us to Trust Him, even in the ‘this’ we find ourselves walking through.
  • Sweet Surrender:  GOD Wants Us to Trust Him, even in our deepest heartache.
  • Sweet Surrender:  GOD Wants Us to Trust Him, even then.

Friend, let our lives speak loudly of our FAITH in HIM.
