Blind Eyes See & Deaf Ears Hear
People talk about purpose and choice. In fact, my students continually question: What should I do with my life? Every person alive asks this question, for in asking, we are pondering our futures. However, may we pause to consider how our life’s purpose is much grander than the careers we choose. If fact, the Bible explains how we were given our life’s purpose the day we chose to accept Jesus.
We are to glorify the Lord in all that we do.
“For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.”
(The 1st Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 6: 20 NASB)
Our lives are not our own, because we give Jesus: our hearts, our thoughts, our lives, and our actions. We now belong to God, not to ourselves. Therefore, daily we are to pray, to preach, to testify, and witness to the lost, loving others like Jesus. We must for the Bible tells us how the devil has his purpose too—deceiving from the beginning.
As we testify and as someone realizes he is a sinner, then that person receives a choice: Choose to reject Jesus and remain bound to Satan—OR—Choose to accept Jesus, belong to God, and be set free. This beautiful choice rests with each person.
Without a doubt, NOT making a decision is STILL CHOOSING.
If an individual does not accept Jesus, then the person is really choosing to remain lost, totally separated from God. Therefore, those who have been redeemed, are called to pray for the lost, for those who are blind—to see. We are to pray for those who are deaf—to hear.
If we do not pray for them to come to Jesus, then who will?
“Then the eyes of the blind will be opened
(The Book of Isaiah 35: 5 NASB)
And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.”
Yes, we are to pray & witness to those who do not yet know Jesus as Savior and Lord, to verbally testify about Jesus, to not remain silent. We are also called to live godly lives, drawing others to Jesus in us. In living the life we have been called to walk, we understand the purpose for our lives. So, daily, we are to examine ourselves:
- How am I doing with God’s purpose for my life?
- Did I walk well yesterday? &
- Can I do better today, walking with the Lord?
In closing, we read in the Bible the reason the LORD came in the person of Jesus to dwell among men on earth: GOD DESIRES THAT ALL MEN COME TO SEE & TO HEAR HIS TRUTH.
There is a song lyric by Peter Burton that goes like this—
“Where would we be—if we did not have Jesus?
“Where Would I Be”
Thank God, I’ll never know.”
May you choose to follow Jesus. The lyrics speak an amazing, glorious blessing when we can proclaim: My Blind Eyes Now See & My Deaf Ears Now Hear because I have given my heart to JESUS.
