Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Rescued from the darkness

  • Do the dark spaces ever scare you?
  • Can we even stand in the light and still be afraid of the darkness, lurking at the edges of our existence?

If we are fully honest, do we ever fear or participate in the darkness found within the world?  Even though we may not be presently walking through a dark time, should we live—prepared for when it comes?

The psalmist David wrote these words when he felt his enemies hiding on every side, knowing God protected and sustained him.

The LORD is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the defense of my life;
Whom shall I dread?”

(The Psalms 27: 1 NASB)

In the Bible, we read about the immorality that surrounds us in the world, and the greediness that might entice us, and how every impure thought or action that we could ever imagine surrounds us.  DARKNESS!

  • What are we to do?
  • How are we to react, behave, and even survive?

Well, this is the most beautiful image ever.  We are to G-L-O-W!  Yes, that’s right; we are to be ever-reminded of who we once were & who we are now in Christ Jesus.

“Therefore do not be partakers with them;
for you were formerly darkness,
but now you are Light in the Lord;
walk as children of Light
(for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth),
trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.
Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness,
but instead even expose them;
for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light,
for everything that becomes visible is light.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Ephesians 5: 7-13 NASB)

Once we have received the Grace of God, then we are led to imitate the Love of Jesus through our Obedience to the Lord, causing us to Worship our Father throughout our days and nights. We are instructed to be imitators of God, as His beloved children, loving others as Christ Jesus loved us, and We are to G-L-O-W!

For He rescued us from the domain of darkness,
and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
in whom we have redemption,
the forgiveness of sins.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Colossians 1: 13-14 NASB)

We are strong in the Lord and the power of His might, fully clothed in His righteousness, His peace, His Truth, and His Grace.  Pause to consider just what we have received.

  • Praise God, Christ Jesus’ saving work on the cross is finished.
  • Praise the Lord, His grace is sufficient.
  • Hallelujah, Jesus’ strength is perfect and complete.
  • For it was in HIS AMAZING GRACE that Jesus stretched out His hands and His feet & He shed His precious blood.
  • It was GRACE that God sent His Only Begotten Son.  &
  • It is ONLY through Jesus’ blood that we are cleansed.

We have been transferredto the kingdom of His beloved Son,” because He has forgiven our sins & in Him we have redemption.”  Praise our Lord—For He rescued us from the domain of darkness.”
