Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

All We Must Do is Ask Him—

  • Who has hurt you?  Who has hurt your feelings?
  • Who have you hurt?  Whose feelings have you hurt?

Forgiveness—It’s a really difficult position to take, and because it is (so hard), we need to ask God for His help.  When we gave our hearts to Jesus, we experienced His compassion, His mercy, and we were so grateful.  However, now, we struggle to do the same, to be like Jesus, as we go.  Jesus asks us to go and do the same to others.  He tells us to—

  • Not bring up old hurts.
  • Not remind others of old arguments.
  • Forgive completely.
  • Do not hold past hurts against others.
  • Forgive & remove it from our minds, so far away:  “As far as the east is from the west, . . .”

I know!  Hard stuff to consider, to obey & do unto others, just as Jesus did unto us.

The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.
He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
For He Himself knows our frame;
He is mindful that we are but dust.”

(The Psalms 103: 8-14 NASB)
  • We can be clean in His presence.
  • We must seek His forgiveness, more and more and more.

All We Must Do is Ask Him—

Then the weight of sin will depart from our frame as we experience full-removal of our transgressions.  He will remove the junk, and oh, how great is that?!

  • Daily.
  • Hourly.
  • Minute-by-Minute.
  • Jesus is willing to come and to forgive us of our sins.
  • He is willing to take our sin and dump it right there at the foot of His cross.
  • He is able to remove our horribly, ugly sin from our presence forever.

All We Must Do is Ask Him—but, sometimes, we fail to ask.  Thus,

Open shame belongs to us,
O Lord, to our kings, our princes and our fathers,
because we have sinned against You.
To the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness,
for we have rebelled against Him;
nor have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God,
to walk in His teachings which He set before us through His servants the prophets.”

(The Book of Daniel 9: 8-10 NASB)

One day, on that great Day of Judgment, we will stand before the throne of God.  There will not be a video playing of all our sins, of all our iniquities—or at least not of those that we have sought His forgiveness for because the Bible is clear JESUS HAS FORGOTTEN THEM!

It’s as if the conversation may go something like this:  “Jesus, do you remember when _____________?” and Jesus responds:  “Child, I remember My grace, but I do not recall your sin.  It has been erased, removed and covered by My precious blood.  You have been completely cleansed—because You asked.”

White as Snow—That is what we must desire every moment we walk this earth.

All We Must Do is Ask Him.
