Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

MORE than human wisdom REQUIRED

Some things in life, a person cannot see & just must believe.  For example, it’s impossible to see with the naked eye the inside of a cocoon, where a caterpillar becomes a beautiful butterfly, but we CAN SEE the effects of what has occurred inside the cocoon once the perfect timing comes.  Furthermore, it’s impossible to see with our physical eyes the inside of a mother’s body, where an embryo develops into a baby that we can hold in our hands, but we CAN SEE the perfectness of a child once the mother’s time of pregnancy finishes and the LORD provides for the baby’s birth.

Happy Father’s Day weekend.  This is a time when we can honor the man who raised us and cared for us, remembering all the lessons he taught us.

  • For some (whose dad is deceased), we honor a dad who has already died.
  • For some (like my son-in-law), we honor a new dad, whose child is a mere babe.
  • For some (like my friend), we honor a dad she never knew this side of paradise.

In all ways, as much as we honored our mothers last month, we now honor our dads.

There is a connection between our earthly dads and our heavenly Father.  Consider how our earthly dads cared for us, protected us, called out to us, and loved us.

Now consider our heavenly Father.

Before the beginning of time, our heavenly Father prepared the only way possible for us to share eternity with Him.  In His love, He calls out to us, provides His protection and care, and promises us that we will be with Him for all eternity.  However, there is one catch, one decision, one huge step a person must do.

WE MUST BELIEVE IN JESUS.

  • We must admit that Jesus is God’s only begotten Son.
  • We must believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.
  • We must also believe that Jesus arose from the grave, resurrected to new life and then ascended back to heaven.
  • We must believe Jesus will come again for those who believe in Him.

Once we have (admitted and believed),

  • We must then confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior, seeking His forgiveness for our sins.

“for WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 10: 13 NAS)

GOD’S PLAN FROM THE VERY BEGINNING OF TIME HAS NOT CHANGED.

Jesus was sent to earth to sacrifice His own life to pay for our sin.

Jesus made it possible for those who believe to share in His glory.

  • From beginning to end.
  • From the start to the close.

God’s Holy Word is God’s plan for redemption.

MORE than human wisdom is REQUIRED for one to believe.

“but just as it is written,
“THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN
AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD,
AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN,
ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.”
For to us God revealed them through the Spirit;
for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.”

(The 1st Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 2: 9-10 NAS)
  • Human wisdom cannot bring us to understand how God, the creator, loves His creation.
  • Human knowledge cannot help us comprehend how God has prepared a place for those who trust in His own Son.

A person must just Trust by Faith & Believe by Faith.

The revelation of what is to come was given to the apostle John, so we might read the Bible and believe in Jesus.

“Then I saw
a new heaven and a new earth;
for the first heaven and the first earth passed away,
and there is no longer any sea.”

(The Revelation to John 21:1 NAS)

We need to believe the truth—Heaven is a real, physical place the LORD has prepared for those who believe in Jesus and who have placed their trust in Him.  However, this ‘mystery’ & ‘hidden wisdom’ is distinct from the intellect and wisdom of this world.  People look at the ability to reason and at the world’s power, thinking it’s enough, but it is not—enough.  When Jesus was crucified on Calvary’s cross, the human rulers did not understand this ‘mystery’ & ‘hidden wisdom’ because this cannot be discovered by human knowledge or effort.

The ‘mystery’ is revealed by God through the Holy Spirit.

While they were sitting together on the Mount of Olives, just outside Jerusalem, the Son of God, Jesus Christ, spoke these words to His disciples.  Privately, they came to Jesus and began to ask their Savior about the signs of the times, about the end of the age.  The words Jesus spoke were applicable then and remain so for us today.

“But when the Son of Man comes in His glory,
and all the angels with Him,
then He will sit on His glorious throne.
All the nations will be gathered before Him;
and He will separate them from one another,
as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;
and He will put the sheep on His right,
and the goats on the left.”

(The Gospel According to Matthew 25: 31-33 NAS)

Truly, MORE than human wisdom is required for one to believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord.

Most definitely, we honor our earthly dads, thankful for all that they mean to us, but MOST importantly, we glorify our heavenly Father, who fashioned HIS PLAN from the beginning, HIS WAY for us to share eternity in heaven with HIM.

“And He who sits on the throne said,
[God spoke these words to the apostle John]

“Behold, I am making all things new.”
And He said,
“Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
Then He said to me,

“It is done.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.
He who overcomes will inherit these things,
and I will be his God and he will be My son.”

(The Revelation to John 21: 5-7 NAS)
