Eternally Protected & Secured by God
“But you are A CHOSEN RACE,
(The 1st Letter of Peter 2: 9-10 NASB)
A royal PRIESTHOOD,
A HOLY NATION,
A PEOPLE FOR
God’s own possession,
so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him
who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
for you once were NOT A PEOPLE,
but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD;
you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY,
but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.”
A month ago, I placed an online order. A simple process: Browse & Shop, Click and Collect into an online shopping cart. Then click Pay. After these small movements, the selected order became displayed on my screen. With one final click, the sought-after items would be on their way to our home. I only need to click—Place Order. An email would arrive in my inbox as my receipt and guarantee that the items ordered would arrive as promised.
Simple, until a few days later when everything arrived but one solitary item was delayed.
- One email arrived promising a new delivery date.
- That day passed and no ordered item arrived.
- Another email arrived promising a new deliver date.
- That day passed and nothing arrived.
- A final email arrived saying: “Something’s gone wrong with your order.” I found myself smiling at that email and thought, “You think!”
Within this final email, an option was given to me: Leave a message with the company. “Sure,” I remember thinking, “I would leave a message and just maybe, the item will still arrive.”
This is when I met the online assistant (AI) who wanted to chat with me.
Within the chat box, before I typed a single word, I was encouraged NOT to provide these details: My name, My address, My tracking number, My credit card number, or My email address when I wrote my message. This gave me pause because I wondered: “How will the company know it is ME, the one who has not received the ordered product?”
- Have you ever attempted to write a statement, one filled with details, but one NOT revealing the identity of the person writing the email?
Let me just say, this is quite difficult.
Have we ever attempted to have a conversation with another, one filled with life details, but one NOT revealing WHO WE REALLY ARE IN CHRIST JESUS?
This SHOULD BE quite difficult for those who are called CHRISTIANS.
- Our identity is of value to us since it reveals who we really are to the watching world.
Identity theft is real, and so for our own protection, we must be careful with certain details that reveal our person self to thieves who seek to steal.
However, our Identity in Christ can NEVER be taken, violated, or forcibly stolen away from us because it is Eternally Protected & Secured by God.
We know so BECAUSE THE BIBLE SAYS SO!
“Therefore, having been justified by faith,
(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 5: 1-2 NASB)
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith
into this grace in which we stand;
and we exult in hope of the glory of God.”
We were walking through life in darkness & the LORD called us into His glorious light.
Thus, our identity resides with GOD as HIS children, HIS people, HIS ambassadors, HIS priests who speak HIS NAME to those who do not know HIM as SAVIOR.
- WE ARE PEOPLE OF HOPE & GOD’S HOPE DOES NOT PUT US TO SHAME!
Therefore, as God’s own people—
- We have our identity in Christ!
- We are Eternally Protected & Secured by God Himself!
- We should NEVER BE ASHAMED to speak to others about—THE ONE WHO HAS GIVEN US HIS HOPE!
As we walk throughout our daily lives, we are to reflect our new identity in Christ!
