Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

HE Reached down from HEAVEN

Eighteen years truly came slowly when we were young children, growing up and striving to reach that magic age of eighteen.  However, now that I reside at an age farther away from eighteen and closer to sixty, I am reminded how eighteen years away from today are a birthday number I would rather not be.

It seems my seventies are but a hop, jump and skip away from where I reside today.

Therefore, when my beautiful husband reminded me how I am a mere eighteen years away from reaching the age seventy-six, the number eighteen surely does not appeal to me as it once did.  This conversation of age and math made me think about the watch, care, and protection of the LORD.

In the Bible, Isaiah, the prophet of the LORD, recorded words that will help us (the aging ones, as in ALL of US).

Listen to Me, O house of Jacob,
And all the remnant of the house of Israel,
You who have been borne by Me from birth
And have been carried from the womb;
Even to your old age I will be the same,
And even to your graying years I will bear you!

I have done it,
and I will carry you;
And I will bear you
and I will deliver you.”

(The Book of Isaiah 46: 3-4 NASB)

If we listen closely enough, we hear the contented sigh of God’s servant.

We sense how Isaiah is at rest in the LORD.

If we read closely enough, we understand how this can also become the contented sigh of us too.

  • The Creator made us.
  • The Almighty carries us.
  • The LORD sustains us. &
  • The Savior rescues us—Always & Forevermore.

Thus, all who believe in and accept Christ Jesus as their Savior, are taken hold of, brought out, delighted in, and rescued.

So, in the world, where we currently sojourn and live, where—

  • Cathedrals have become places where tourists go whenever they visit new cities.
  • Steeples pointing toward the sky have become geography markers travelers seek whenever they drive to new towns.
  • Sunday calendars spaces have become a second Saturday whenever people plan their weekends.

We may question:

  • Whatever has happened to God’s perfect plan for mankind?
  • Wherever has a six-day work week gone, with the Sabbath reserved and protected?
  • Whenever did man ever determine he did not need God?

In the Bible, David is reflected by his powerful leadership and his victories over warring factions.  However, like Isaiah, the reader sees a basic truth in David, a man who sought after God’s own heart.

David, the servant of God—

David allowed himself to be led by the Lord of his life.

“For You light my lamp;
The LORD my God illumines my darkness.
For by You I can run upon a troop;
And by my God I can leap over a wall.

As for God,
His way is blameless;
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.

For who is God,
but the LORD?
And who is a rock,
except our God,

. . .
You have also given me the shield of Your salvation,
And Your right hand upholds me;
And Your gentleness makes me great.
You enlarge my steps under me,
And my feet have not slipped.”

(The Psalms 18: 28-31 & 35-36 NASB)

The watch, care, and protection of the LORD are an assurance, a peace, and an inheritance gifted to the children of God.

The LORD—

  • Brought you (child of God) out in a broad place.
  • Delighted in you.
  • Rescued you.

HE Reached down from HEAVEN & Took Hold of You.  &

The LORD—

  • Brought me (a child of God) out in a broad place.
  • Delighted in me.
  • Rescued me.

HE Reached down from HEAVEN & Took Hold of Me. &

The FATHER—

  • Brought each of us (children of God) out in a broad place & delighted in each of us.

Surely, our GOD & our SAVIOR reached down from HEAVEN!

Assuredly, HE took hold of HIS Creation & HE rescued us!  & so

At the right time, HE will come for each of us, to bring us HOME!
