A walk through life toward eternity

Pure Obedience:  Found in Jesus

“It is a trustworthy statement,
deserving full acceptance,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,
among whom I am foremost of all.
Yet for this reason I found mercy,
so that in me as the foremost,

Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience
as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.
Now to the King eternal,
immortal,
invisible,
the only God,
be honor and glory
forever and ever.
Amen.”

(The 1st Letter of Paul to Timothy 1: 15-17 NASB)

As a child, I always enjoyed skipping rocks on a body of water, and the key rests in the selection of the ROCK.

  • The water can be a creek, a stream, a pond, a river, or a lake.  The location of the water is not as vital; however, the presence of the water is necessary.
  • The flick of the wrist is quite important to the success found in skipping a rock; nevertheless, whether weak-strengthened or muscle-armed, the strength is not as vital; however the presence of the person is necessary.
  • The selection of the PERFECT ROCK is vital to skipping rocks across a body of water, for the ROCK cannot be one of a heavy weight, nor one of many jagged edges, or one that is too large to hold comfortably in your hand.

THE PERFECT ROCK IS KEY!

Thus, whenever given the opportunity to skip rocks, it is vital to scour the ground in search of the PERFECT ROCK.

Jesus Christ knew precisely why He came to dwell among mankind.  Jesus came to die, to pay for our sins.  Therefore, as His time drew near, He prepared His followers to follow after Him, to follow Him in obedience.  Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer said—

“You heard that I said to you,
I go away, and I will come to you.’

If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father,
for the Father is greater than I.
Now I have told you before it happens,
so that when it happens,
you may believe.

I will not speak much more with you,
for the ruler of the world is coming,
and he has nothing in Me;
but so that the world may know that I love the Father,
I do exactly as the Father commanded Me.

Get up, let us go from here.”

(The Gospel According to John 14: 28-31 NASB)

Pure Obedience Demonstrated.

Pure Obedience:  Found in Jesus, the Savior of the world & the Son of God.

  • If we love God  &
  • If we love God’s Son

Then we cannot help but be obedient to Him.

We are called to be ‘so in love with Jesus’ that we long to choose HIM in every situation.

THE PERFECT ROCK IS KEY!

The apostle Paul spoke with authority when he wrote—

“It is a trustworthy statement,
deserving full acceptance,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,
. . .
Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience
as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.
Now to the King eternal,
immortal,
invisible,
the only God,
be honor and glory
forever and ever.
Amen.”

(The 1st Letter of Paul to Timothy 1: 15a & 16b-17 NASB)

Whenever I am afforded the opportunity to play as a child and to skip rocks across a pond, I first walk around the perimeter, looking at the ground, looking for the PERFECT ROCK to skip.  Once the PERFECT ROCK is found, all that is necessary—

  • Stepping forward to the water with the ROCK. &
  • Holding tightly to the ROCK.  &
  • Keeping our focus on the ROCK.  &
  • Skipping that PERFECT ROCK across the top of the water.

ONE—TWO—THREE—FOUR—FIVE—SIX—SEVEN—EIGHT—NINE—TEN.

THE PERFECT ROCK WALKS ACROSS THE TOP OF THE WATER & NEVER SINKS!

THE PERFECT ROCK IS KEY!

JESUS IS THE SOLID ROCK THAT CAME AS A BABE BORN IN A MANGER!

JESUS IS THE CORNERSTONE THAT FITS EVERYTHING TOGETHER!

JESUS CHRIST OBEDIENTLY CAME TO EARTH TO PROVIDE SALVATION FOR US!

JESUS CHRIST IS & WILL FOREVER BE THE PERFECT ROCK—SENT FROM THE FATHER!

May we who BELIEVE in HIM, in JESUS—Live by Grace through Faith, walking in great confidence & complete dependence on JESUS CHRIST—the PERFECT ROCK!

“And the Word became flesh,
and dwelt among us,
and we saw His glory,
glory as of the only begotten from the Father,
full of grace and truth.”

(The Gospel According to John 1: 14 NASB)
