Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

The devil may be full of sly tricks, BUT . . .

The word ‘but’ brings an interesting contrast.  As a coordinating conjunction, this word has a task, a job to do; however, if utilized properly, the word ‘but’ will work well for us.

Let’s see how.

  • The devil may be full of sly tricks, BUT we are in Christ!
  • The devil may be full of sly tricks, BUT JESUS is greater than he who is in the world!
  • The devil may be full of sly tricks, BUT we have the Lord’s power within us!

We may be afflicted but not crushed because the Holy Spirit remains in us.

We may be perplexed by difficulties, but not defeated because He is in us.

  • The devil may be full of sly tricks, BUT the LORD JESUS is our strength!
  • The devil may be full of sly tricks, BUT the precious blood of CHRIST covers our sins!
  • The devil may be full of sly tricks, BUT a child of God is filled with JESUS CHRIST!

JESUS, the SAVIOR of the world said:

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name,
He will teach you all things,
and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
Peace I leave with you;
My peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you.
Do not let your heart be troubled,
nor let it be fearful.”

(The Gospel According to John 14: 26-27 NASB)

Today, let us remember God’s Promises—

  • We need remembrance.  Let us recall that when a person becomes a child of God, when an individual accepts Jesus as his Savior, the Holy Spirit enters a person.
  • We need remembrance.  When the Holy Spirit enters a person’s being, his soul, the devil exits.
  • We need remembrance.  Satan has no hold on Jesus!
  • &  We need remembrance.  Satan has no hold on Christians!

We know because Jesus Christ, our Savior & Messiah tells us so!

We have the indwelling power of Jesus’ Holy Spirit within our weak, frail bodies.

Yes, that is correct:

  • For all who have chosen to accept the truth of Jesus &
  • For those who have elected to believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God  &
  • For each person who has confessed his sins and asked Jesus to save his soul.

We have the divine light of Jesus shining within us as we walk forward into this lost, dark world.  Therefore, as we go, we must take with us the truth of God.

  • Satan wants us to stumble in our witness.
  • Lucifer seeks to devour us, to crush our prayers.
  • The Deceiver wants to box us in, to hinder us and to oppress us.
  • The Devil is not above using whatever means, whatever method possible to persecute us, to tempt us, to embarrass us, to suppress us, and to make us desperate.

BUT—WE ARE IN CHRIST!

BUT—JESUS HAS OVERCOME THE WORLD!

BUT—HIS ETERNAL PEACE PERMEATES OUR BODY, MIND & SOUL!

“But now Christ has been raised from the dead,
the first fruits of those who are asleep.”

[those who have already died]
“For since by a man came death,
by a man also came the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die,
so also in Christ all will be made alive.”

[all who have Accepted, Believed, & Confessed Jesus as Savior and Lord]

“But each in his order:
Christ the first fruits,
after that those who are Christ’s at His coming,
then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father,
when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.”

(The 1st Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 15: 20-24 NASB)

The devil may be full of sly tricks right now, this side of our eternal destination,

  • BUT the LORD JESUS is our strength!
  • BUT the precious blood of CHRIST covers our sins!
  • BUT a child of God is filled with JESUS CHRIST!

We know because—Jesus Christ, our Savior & Messiah—wants us to remember.

“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace.
In the world you have tribulation, but take courage;
I have overcome the world.”

(The Gospel According to John 16: 33 NASB)
