Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Be So In Love With Jesus

“No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life,
so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.”

(The 2nd Letter of Paul to Timothy 2: 4 NASB)
  • If we love Jesus, we cannot help but pledge to obediently follow Him.
  • If we are so ‘in love’ with our Savior, we cannot help but long to choose Him when faced with decisions in our daily life situation.

Be So In Love With Jesus!

In the Bible, in The Gospel According to John, we read about the miracle that occurred at a wedding in Cana, a day when the master of the house ran low on good wine for his guests who had come for the wedding.  This was late into the wedding ceremony, the third day, and Mary (the mother of Jesus) had attended the wedding with Him.  Even the disciples were present.  When the wine was depleted, the headwaiter experienced a miracle, one that he never knew was possible.  See the scene with me.

  • See the six empty stone waterpots.

Observe Mary’s faith“They have no wine.” (The Gospel According to John 2: 3b NASB)

Hear the Son of God speak:  “Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” (Verse 7a)

  • See the waiters carrying them to the spring where the empty waterpots were filled with water.

Hear the Son of God say:  “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.” (Verse 8a)

  • See the six stone waterpots filled to the brim with cold, clear water.
  • See the faith of the waiters, who draw out water, and carry it to the headwaiter.

“(but the servants who had drawn the water knew), . . .” (Verse 9b)

  • See the headwaiter’s faith as he takes a drink of the water, tasting the good wine, that which by tradition was served first, not last.

Observe the headwaiter’s perplexed thoughts.

Observe the disciples’ faith. “This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.” (Verse 11)

  • THE LOVE OF GOD IS REAL—POWERFUL—TRANSFORMATIONAL!
  • THE LOVE OF GOD—SHAPES US—MAKES US—MOLDS US INTO PEOPLE WHO WILLINGLY CHOOSE THE LORD OVER MAN!

THE LOVE OF GOD—Transforms believers into people who do not live for this world, but who live for eternity.

“No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, . . .”

  • May We Be So In Love With Jesus!

“so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.”

  • May We Be People Who Obey God’s Perfect Will!

May We Be Ever-Grateful for what Jesus Christ the Savior Has Done for Us!

May We Be So In Love With Jesus!
