Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Remember Who You Are

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the LORD

[The ALMIGHTY]
[The only GOD of the UNIVERSE]
[The CREATOR of EVERYTHING & EVERYONE]
[The LORD HIMSELF—HE]
delivers him out of them all.”

(The Psalms 34: 19 NASB)
  • Maybe you are, like me, guilty of memory lapse.
  • Maybe you are, like me, often walking within a fog of forgetfulness.
  • Maybe you are, like me & possibly like every Christian alive, prone to not recall just who you are—in God.

The psalmist David reminds us that we are righteous because of Jesus’ righteous, & David says that we are not guaranteed a life of ease.  In fact, we may find ourselves thinking stinky thoughts—“LORD, since I belong to you, surely I will not suffer in my relationships, in my career, in my marriage, or in my health.”

Surely, these are untrue thoughts to think because the Bible clearly states—

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, . . .”

If we were to stop reading right there, then our mood would definitely become downcast; however, the next line of David’s Psalm helps us remember.

“But the LORD delivers him out of them all.”

The LORD makes a way!

  • Is not that always the TRUTH we who believe are to remember?
  • And the PROMISE we who belong to God are to recall?

Remember Who You Are.

&

Remember WHOSE We Are!

The apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the believers living in Ephesus these reassuring words.

“For we are His workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand
so that we would walk in them.

Therefore remember that
formerly you,
the Gentiles in the flesh,
who are called “Uncircumcision” by the so-called “Circumcision,”
which is performed in the flesh by human hands—

remember that you were at that time
separate from Christ,
excluded from the commonwealth of Israel,
and strangers to the covenants of promise,
having no hope and without God in the world.

But now
in Christ Jesus
you who formerly were far off
have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Ephesians 2: 10-13 NASB)

HALLELUJAH—We are God’s masterpiece!

PRAISE GOD—We have been created in Christ Jesus!

THANK YOU, LORD—GOD prepared the good works we will do in HIM, even before we gave our heart to HIM!

May we daily recall—WHO GOD IS!  &  WHOSE We Are!

Maybe right now would be a great time to pull out our earbuds to listen as Dara Maclean sings the melody of remembrance—

“Yours Forever”

  • We are GOD’S child!
  • We belong to GOD!
  • We are HIS!

The devil has no right to lay claim to any part of our today!

May we read this again & again & again until we fully receive THE TRUTH—WE ARE GOD’S!

The devil has no right to lay claim to any part of our today!

  • Satan acts as if he does.
  • Satan brings temptations and troubles to us.

BUT THROUGH GOD—

  • We can resist Satan!
  • We can recall how Satan must flee from the presence of Holy God!

AND THROUGH GOD—

  • We can turn from the devil’s temptation.
  • We can run from the devil’s lies.
  • We can RESIST the hideous defiler!

REMEMBERING AS WE DO—

  • We can turn toward God.
  • We can obey God.
  • We can rely upon the assurance of God’s help with our many afflictions.
  • We can claim the peace of God.

WE CAN BECAUSE WE BELONG TO THE LORD!

  • May we walk today within the fellowship our LORD gives.
  • May we receive the blessings God provides.
  • May we praise our Father God Who helps us—Remember WHOSE We Are!

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the LORD delivers him out of them all.”

(The Psalms 34: 19 NASB)
