One Standard—How We Should Measure Ourselves
“For there is no partiality with God.”
(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 2: 11 NASB)
If we read this single verse and stop without reading the following verse, the verse that comes next, then we may not understand HOW it is that God shows no partiality, that God—
- Loves all people in the same way—YES, YES, GOD DOES!
- Cares for the needs & provides for all people—YES, YES, GOD DOES!
- Offers salvation to all who will accept His Son—YES, YES, GOD DOES!
- Sent Jesus to offer redemption to all people—YES, YES, GOD DID!
- Judges the sins of all people, the living & the dead—YES, YES, GOD PROMISES!
“For there is no partiality with God.
(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 2: 11-13 & 16 NASB)
For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law,
and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law;
for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God,
but the doers of the Law will be justified.
. . .
on the day when,
according to my gospel,
God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.”
Most assuredly—
- Jesus stepped out of heaven and came to earth, as the Son of God & the Son of Man
- Jesus was born to Mary, as the Son of Man & Son of God
- Jesus walked & lived, as the Son of Man, Doing the Work God Sent Him To Do
And Then—
- Jesus willingly gave his life on the cross & resurrected from the grave, fulfilling the Promise, as the only begotten Son of God.
Most definitely, there remains One Standard—By How We Should Measure Ourselves—
By How We Should Know That We Know We Are A Redeemed Child of God—
BY CHRIST JESUS HIMSELF!
“God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He become visible,
(The Acts of the Apostles 10: 40-43 NASB)
not to all the people,
but to witnesses who were chosen beforehand by God,
that is, to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.
And He ordered us to preach to the people,
and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead.
Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name
everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.”
Eyewitnesses—“God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He become visible,”
Witnesses—“chosen beforehand by God,”
Witnesses—“who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.”
Witnesses Tasked with a Job to Do—“And He ordered us to preach to the people,”
Witnesses Ordered—“solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead.”
Witness Prophesied—“Of Him all the prophets bear witness”
Prophets Proclaim the Truth of God—“through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.”
This passage records the reminder we need of God’s Commission to preach the Gospel to all nations: Beginning first at Jerusalem, then in Judea & Samaria, & then to the uttermost parts of the world.
- To be saved is to be—Saved by God!
- To be forgiven of our sins is to be—Forgiven by God!
- To be redeemed is to be—Redeemed by God!
- To be promised passage directly into heaven at the moment our earthly life ends—Accept the Promise of God!
Have we obeyed & followed His Will or Not—
Without a doubt, we will be judged by Christ Jesus Himself!
Most definitely, there remains Just One Standard—By How We Should Measure Ourselves!
“Behold,
(Deuteronomy 10: 14-21 NASB)
to the LORD your God belong heaven and the highest heavens,
the earth and all that is in it.
Yet on your fathers did the LORD set His affection to love them,
and He chose their descendants after them,
even you above all peoples , as it is this day.
So circumcise your heart,
and stiffen your neck no longer.
For the LORD your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords,
the great, the mighty,
and the awesome God who does not show partiality or take a bribe.
He executes justice for the orphan and the widow,
and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing.
So show your love for the alien,
for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.
You shall fear the LORD your God;
you shall serve Him and cling to Him,
and you shall swear by His name.
He is your praise and He is your God,
who has done these great and awesome things for you
which your eyes have seen.”
