Spiritually Seeing & Hearing
“Turning to the disciples, He said privately,
(The Gospel According to Luke 10: 23-24 NASB)
“Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see,
for I say to you,
that many prophets and kings wished to see the things which you see,
and did not see them,
and to hear the things which you hear,
and did not hear them.”
“Blessed.”
Jesus tells us so!
- Do we totally comprehend just HOW “Blessed” WE ARE IN JESUS we are compared to those who see but DO NOT TRULY SEE?
- Do we firmly understand just HOW “Blessed” WE ARE IN JESUS compared to those who hear but DO NOT TRULY HEAR?
It is incredible how the Old & New Testaments overlap to reveal the truth. The older we become and the more years we live to study God’s Word reveals this to us.
When God commissioned Isaiah to become His witness, His prophet—the one sent by Jehovah God to go to the children of Israel—we read in the Bible how God provided Isaiah with a vision, closely followed by the voice of the Lord.
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying,
(The Book of Isaiah 6: 8-10 NASB)
“Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?”
Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
He said, “Go, and tell this people:
‘Keep on listening, but do not perceive;
Keep on looking, but do not understand.’
“Render the hearts of this people insensitive,
Their ears dull,
And their eyes dim,
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
Hear with their ears,
Understand with their hearts,
And return and be healed.”
Blind men can see Jesus!
The Bible reveals how!
Mute men can hear Jesus!
God’s Word loudly proclaims how!
Spiritually healing can occur!
The Son of Man & Son of God demonstrates how!
We have so many instances within God’s Word to comprehend how this is so. Just read of the persecutor Saul who saw the bright light and heard the voice of the Lord when Saul was traveling on the road to Damascus.
At the end of his earthly life, the changed man ‘Paul’ who once walked as ‘Saul’ was taken by boat to Rome to face his final trial. He was arrested for the witness, for the way he testified to the listening ones about His Savior Jesus.
When the apostle Paul arrived in Rome, he was allowed to stay under house arrest, as he awaited his trial date. While he awaited that day, he testified to those who came to his lodging (the place where he lived under house arrest), and as the large numbers of people came to speak with him—
“Some were being persuaded by the things spoken, but others would not believe.”
(The Acts of the Apostles 28: 24 NASB)
Paul could have said anything to the Romans, even wiggled his way out of the persecution he was about to face (his execution for his faith), but in his final testimony, God’s child Paul chose to quote the Old Testament passage found in Isaiah 6.
- God is both Judge & Savior!
- God has a plan to make all things right at the end of time!
A necessary part of God’s plan is declaring what is NOT right.
- The judgment of God reveals to those who can SEE & declares to those who can HEAR the TRUTH of GOD because God’s Word shows us what truly causes the brokenness in this world—SIN.
Nevertheless, the PROMISE of GOD HEALS!
“Heaven on Earth” by Stars Go Dim proclaims through lyrics what God’s children should be about as we walk throughout the remaining days God allows us to live on this earth. One day soon, God will bring us home to heaven, but until that day, we have an important mission to walk.
- We are NOT sent by our Father to judge our neighbors, our lost friends, or our unsaved family members.
- Nor are we NOT sent by our Father to save those we witness to about Jesus.
BECAUSE WE ARE SENT BY OUR FATHER TO DECLARE WHAT WE SPIRITUALLY SEE & HEAR!
- We are sent by God to reveal Jesus to those who cannot see!
- We are sent by God to declare Jesus to those who cannot hear!
- May we be faithful in The Great Commission Jesus gave us.
- May we be listening to our Savior who speaks to us intimately & privately.
