How Should We Act?
“The eye is the lamp of the body;
(The Gospel According to Matthew 6: 22-23 NASB)
so then if your eye is clear,
your whole body will be full of light.
But if your eye is bad,
your whole body will be full of darkness.
If then the light that is in you is darkness,
how great is the darkness!”
How should we act if we are citizens of heaven?
- Are we to live as an expression of God’s grace in Christ Jesus as we face every situation?
- When we face challenges, should we respond with our words and our actions, speaking and doing just as Jesus would?
- Those individuals who see us every day (our spouse, our children, our siblings, our parents, our co-workers, our friends), what words would they choose to describe us—as we honestly ‘Live Out’ our citizenship as children of God?
“No one can serve two masters;
(The Gospel According to Matthew 6: 24 NASB)
for either
he will hate the one and love the other,
or he will be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and wealth.”
Wealth is personified in this verse as the object of our worship.
When I read these three verses spoken by Jesus & when I really consider the word ‘worship’ in the context of my own life, my mind immediately sees the cross of Calvary and Jesus hanging there—for me.
I encourage us today to really ponder exactly—HOW MUCH GOD LOVES US!
- That He would send His Only Son to become a man, like us.
- That He would share His Gospel message to us so that we could be saved & share this Truth with others.
- That He would provide the Only Way for us to come to know Jesus as our Savior.
- That He would grow the tree from which Jesus would hang and die—for all mankind.
- That He would keep Jesus dead in the grave, proving to the watching world that truly He was dead.
- That He would resurrect His Son Jesus Christ from the tomb to new life.
- That He would walk and be seen by over 500 people for forty days after His resurrection from the dead.
- That He would give His disciples His Great Commission & then ascend back to heaven to sit down on the right side of His Father.
- That He promises He Will Stand One Day Soon To Rapture His Church!
In light of all of this—How Should We Act?
- Since we are Christians—How should we ‘Live Out’ this day?
- Since we are children of the King of kings—How should we worship our Savior each day?
- Since we are citizens of heaven—How should we walk through today as we encounter the lost?
- Since we belong to God (yes, HIS OWN POSSESSION)—HOW CAN WE CHOOSE TO NOT BE FULLY DEVOTED & OBEDIENT OUR MASTER? !!!
There is a melody sung by Jon Reddick titled “I Believe It,” a song that speaks about the life of Jesus.
Listen. Dance. Twirl.
Yes, Worship & Praise our Savior Jesus Christ.
May we always—
Run toward our Savior with fearless devotion.
May we faithfully—
Confess Jesus every divine opportunity we receive.
May we rely upon &—
Respond in faithfulness to the Holy Spirit who resides within us.
May we reside as citizens of heaven, transformed by God Himself—
Not fearing what others may say.
May we live as the—
SAVED WHO HAVE THE ASSURANCE OF A FUTURE!
May we reflect—
The light of God within us whose salvation gives us ALL THAT WE WILL EVER NEED!
May we boldly—
Walk into this brand-new day, not fearing mankind, but fearing only GOD!
May we commit to—
‘Live Out’ the rest of our days in the freedom & power of the Holy Spirit!
“Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ,
(The Letter of Paul to the Colossians 3: 1-4 NASB)
keep seeking the things above,
where Christ is,
seated at the right hand of God.
Set your mind on the things above,
not on the things that are on earth.
For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ,
who is your life, is revealed,
then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.”
