HE PROMISES—HE Will Complete What HE Began in Us!
Name two times in your life when you were able to finish what you started—efficiently & perfectly.
- University Study—I was able to complete and receive my degrees, BUT NOT EFFICIENTLY NOR PERFECTLY because what I began in 1984, I eventually finished in 1991, 1995, & in 2016, additional coursework.
- Back Surgery—I was able to (with much prayer) receive peace about having a surgical procedure performed on my back, BUT MY BODY WILL NOT EVER BE PERFECT this side of heaven. What God began in me when I was fifteen, He will eventually complete.
“But the things which God announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets,
(The Acts of the Apostles 3: 18 NASB)
that His Christ would suffer,
He has thus fulfilled.”
God has acted in history through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, His Only Son, who was crucified and buried in the tomb. Since God has done this—resurrected His Christ from the dead to new life—mankind (you & me) needs to respond.
Some might read that last statement and question: Respond how & Respond in what way?
With holy clarity, the Holy Spirit gives each individual the question that demands a response!
THE QUESTION—
WHAT WILL I DO WITH JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD?
“Trust in Jesus” by Third Day proclaims the ONLY APPROPRIATE ANSWER to the question.
Pause to listen before reading on to see how we are to live.
In a Psalm of David, we read these words, ones that help us know HOW TO TRUST IN OUR LORD.
“Trust in the LORD and do good;
(The Psalms 37: 3-7a & 9b & 11 NASB)
Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the LORD;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light
And your judgment as the noonday.
Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him;
. . .
But those who wait for the LORD,
they will inherit the land.
. . .
But the humble will inherit the land
And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity.”
We who have placed our TRUST IN OUR LORD need to LIVE WHERE GOD HAS PLACED US!
So this means—
- We must TRUST WHAT HE IS DOING IN OUR LIVES RIGHT NOW!
- We must COMMIT OUR STEPS, OUR WALK, TO HIM, READY TO SPEAK THE GOSPEL TO THOSE WE ENCOUNTER ALONG THE WAY!
- We must REMAIN FAITHFUL TO HIM, DOING THE GOOD HE LEADS US TO DO!
- We must REST IN OUR ASSURANCE THAT GOD WILL COMPLETE THAT WHICH HE BEGAN IN US THE DAY HE SAVED OUR SOULS!
We who have placed our TRUST IN OUR LORD need to NEVER fret & worry about those who seem to be ‘getting ahead’ by their evil deeds.
We who have placed our TRUST IN OUR LORD need to REMEMBER—
- GOD WILL BRING US HOME SOMEDAY SOON!
We who have placed our TRUST IN OUR LORD need to dwell upon HIS TRUTH—THE ABUNDANT LIFE FOUND ONLY IN WALKING IN HIS WILL!
Today, let us dwell upon exactly what God has entrusted to us who believe & have received His Gift of Salvation.
May we dwell & ask ourselves: How are we stewarding this gift the LORD has given to us?
The Holy Spirit inside us should make a difference in us as we walk through this day the LORD has given us to live.
HE PROMISES—HE Will Complete What HE Began in Us!
The promises of God should change the conversations we experience today, as we lean in, listening to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
He will prompt us to be aware of—His Divine Appointments—to share Jesus with others.
“Therefore having such a hope,
(The Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 3: 12 NASB)
we use great boldness in our speech,”
