Are You Sick? Come to the LORD!
If you and I walk long enough into every day we are given to live, then undoubtedly, we will encounter those who are sick. Quite possibly, the first encounter will occur when we first stumble from our beds and peer into our bathroom mirrors.
On this day, let us pause to see what the Scriptures speak regarding SICKNESS & HEALING.
TRULY, the Word of God has much to say about healing. Take a stroll with me as we read God’s teaching found in the Bible.
“Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed;
(The Book of Jeremiah 17: 14 NASB)
Save me and I will be saved,
For You are my praise.”
First, the prophets understood how the heavenly Father, the LORD and Creator of the universe was FULLY CAPABLE of HEALING & SAVING.
It is GOD to whom we are to lift our praise!
“Bless the LORD, O my soul,
(The Psalms 103: 1-5 NASB)
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.”
Next, we walk throughout one of David’s psalms, noting the list of ways mankind is BENEFITED by the hand of God.
It is GOD from whom all blessing & satisfaction come!
“Jesus was going throughout all Galilee,
(The Gospel According to Matthew 4: 23-25 NASB)
teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming
the gospel of the kingdom,
and healing
every kind of disease and every kind of sickness
among the people.
The news about Him spread throughout all Syria;
and they brought to Him all who were ill,
those suffering with various diseases and pains,
demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics;
and He healed them.
Large crowds followed Him from Galilee
and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea
and from beyond the Jordan.”
Jesus Himself healed people as He traveled the countryside and walked through the numerous cities, for there were many who needed HEALING.
Despite the kind of SICKNESS & Despite the PLACE—JESUS CHRIST—BRINGS HEALING!
“Departing, they began going throughout
(The Gospel According to Luke 9: 6 NASB)
the villages,
preaching the gospel
and healing everywhere.”
- If the prophets of old understood how the Heavenly Father provided HEALING
- If the psalmist David understood how God benefits mankind through HEALING
- If Jesus Christ performed HEALING everywhere He went
Would it not also be true that Jesus’ disciples would be sent into the world—to bring HEALING to the sick?
There are no degrees of sickness because if you and I are sick, then our sickness feels as a heaviness to carry.
Truly, Everyone needs HEALING!

The Great Physician—Jesus Himself—tells us so!

that He was eating with the sinners and tax collectors,
they said to His disciples, “Why is He eating and drinking
with tax collectors and sinners?
And hearing this, Jesus said to them,
“It is not those who are healthy who need a physician,
but those who are sick;
I did not come to call the righteous,
but sinners.”
