Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

‘BEFORE THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF THE LORD SHALL COME.’

The one who denied Jesus (on the days before Jesus’ crucifixion on the cross) stood to preach.  Peter’s sermon to those present that day (on the days after Jesus’ resurrection from death to new life) was delivered to those who were skeptics.  Peter spoke with great power and authority.

  • Maybe we do not remember what he preached that day &
  • Maybe we have studied the Scriptures so we do know the truth of the apostle Peter’s words.

Nonetheless, those people who were present (on the fiftieth day after Jesus’ resurrection from the grave & after Jesus’ ascension back to heaven) supernaturally heard Peter’s message in their own language, amazed because it was as if multiple translators were present.  When Peter stood to preach, the others present that day thought Peter was drunk.

However, those saints of God who know the GOSPEL, who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior—know the TRUTH!

“And they all continued in amazement and great perplexity, saying to one another,
“What does this mean?”
But others were mocking and saying,

“They are full of sweet wine.”
But Peter,
taking his stand with the eleven,
raised his voice and declared to them:
”Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem,
let this be known to you and give heed to my words.
For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day;
but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel:

‘AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,’
God says,
‘THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND;
AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY,
AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS,
AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS;
EVEN ON MY BONDSLAVES, BOTH MEN AND WOMEN,
I WILL IN THOSE DAYS POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT

And they shall prophesy,
‘AND I WILL GRANT WONDERS IN THE SKY ABOVE
AND SIGNS ON THE EARTH BELOW,
BLOOD, AND FIRE, AND VAPOR OF SMOKE.
THE SUN WILL BE TURNED INTO DARKNESS
AND THE MOON INTO BLOOD,
BEFORE THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF THE LORD SHALL COME.
AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.’

(The Acts of the Apostles 2: 12-21 NASB)
  • Last week, we experienced a revival unlike one I have ever experienced.  This was a uniquely focused ‘Prayer Revival,’ one we prepared for ‘in prayer’ & one we continued this week as we participated in community ‘prayer walks.’
  • Each night, we have traveled to different locations throughout our community, choosing to walk & pray.
  • Last night, we visited the campuses of three local schools, parking our vehicles and then walking along the sidewalks, across the parking lots, and praying specifically for the students, educators, staff, and administrators who attended these schools.
  • Later, as we drove back to church, I commented to one of my prayer partners about the western sky because it seemed to be filled with smoke, as if a huge fire was burning somewhere close by.  Even later, as I drove home, I never encountered the source of the smoke, and this morning, I still wonder what it was I really saw in the sky.
  • In one week, on April 8, a Solar Eclipse will cover the sun in totality, as the world turns to complete darkness.  The next eclipse of the sun is not projected to occur for twenty years 2044.

I am not a prophet nor a preacher, but I am a believer.

I am not a scientist nor an astronomer, but I am a Christian.

I am not a pessimist nor an optimist, but I am a realist who believes The Word of God.

‘BEFORE THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF THE LORD SHALL COME.
AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.’

“Men of Israel, listen to these words:
Jesus the Nazarene,
a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst,
just as you yourselves know—
this Man,

[JESUS CHRIST the MESSIAH]
delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God,

you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men
and put Him to death.
But God raised Him up again,
putting an end to the agony of death,
since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.”

(The Acts of the Apostles 2: 20b-24 NASB)
  • THE FATHER SENT JESUS (FROM HEAVEN TO EARTH) TO DIE UPON THE CROSS!
  • JESUS CHRIST WILLINGLY OBEYED THE FATHER’S WILL!
  • THE SAVIOR TOOK ALL OF OUR SINS UPON HIMSELF!
  • HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD COVERS EVERY SIN!
  • HE IS & WAS—THE ULTIMATE, HOLY & ONLY ACCEPTABLE SACRIFICE!

AFTER HANGING UPON THE CROSS OF CALVARY FOR SIX TORTUROUS HOURS!

  • JESUS THE MESSIAH SPOKE WORDS THAT CONTINUALLY BRING JOY TO EVERY BELIEVER’S HEART!

“A jar full of sour wine was standing there;
so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth.
Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine,

[necessary moisture after enduring the cross for you and me]
He said,
“It is finished!”
And He bowed His head and give up His spirit.”

(The Gospel According to John 19: 29-30 NASB)

THE PAYMENT FOR MANKIND’S SIN DEBT—FOR EACH OF US—HAS BEEN PAID IN FULL!

PRAISE GOD!

PRAISE THE SON JESUS CHRIST!

JESUS WAS RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD TO NEW LIFE!

JESUS—HE IS ALIVE!

The Most Important Life Decision Everyone Faces—

  • Will you decide to give your heart, your life to Jesus?
  • Will you decide today to be saved?

BEFORE THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF THE LORD SHALL COME.’

Yes, before JESUS CHRIST COMES AGAIN TO GATHER HIS SAINTS—

  • Won’t you decide to call upon the Lord and be saved today?

AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.’
