“His indescribable gift!”
“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”
(The Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 9: 15 NASB)
I am one of ‘those.’ Maybe you too are one of ‘those’ kinds of individuals—you know, ‘the package-shaking-type.’ So often when I was small and still living at home, my mom would say, “Nancy, don’t be shaking the presents,” so like any obedient child, I would walk away from the Christmas tree, only to sneak over later when she left the room—so I could then shake the presents.
Why didn’t mom want me to shake the presents?
Answer—
- She said I might break the gift (but never was a gift broken when I opened it on Christmas morning).
- She said I might guess what was inside the gift (and yes, oftentimes, I would turn to mom after shaking a package and exclaim the interior contents). Across her face was the answer I sought.
I know, maybe you’re thinking, ‘Nancy, why did you torment you mom so?’ You are correct in saying I did because I am sure my guessing game took away her surprise she had wrapped inside the package.
My husband and his sister did not shake but searched for the hidden gifts, opened them, and then re-wrapped the gifts until Christmas Day, when they would open the gift that they already knew.
- What is it about ‘gifts’ and the NEED TO KNOW! ?
- Why is it that the PERFECT GIFT remains most un-opened by so many?
“For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
For one will hardly die for a righteous man;
though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood,
[CHRIST JESUS’ sacrificial blood covers the multitude of sins, making it JUST-AS-IF-I never sinned!
- & because of JESUS’ SACRIFICIAL DEATH ON THE CROSS
- & because of GOD’S LOVE for us]
we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son,
much more,
having been reconciled,
we shall be saved by His life.”
(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 5: 6-10 NASB)
God’s decision to send His only begotten Son to earth was not a last-minute, plan B decision.
God did not look at the magnitude of sins mankind had committed and say, ‘Oh, I better do something.’
- God planned to send Jesus from the very beginning!
- God prepared for the PERFECT GIFT of JESUS from the beginning!
- God’s Amazing Love has always & will forever be HIS PLAN A to redeem humanity!
GOD GAVE THE PERFECT GIFT!
The Bible tells us how God gave “His indescribable gift!”
“See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God;
(The First Letter of John 3: 1 NASB)
and such we are.
For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”
The gift of baby Jesus in the manger is the PERFECT GIFT (of Christmas, of every day, of a lifetime!)
- May we not ‘shake and guess at’ what’s inside the gift package this Christmas.
- May we not ‘sneak to open, to see, only to re-wrap and re-hide’ the gift package this Christmas.
- May we who have Accepted—Believed—Confessed JESUS as our LORD share JESUS this Christmas.
- May we who ‘are called the children of God’ share with the world—THE MOST PERFECT & THE MOST INDESCRIBABLE GIFT—JESUS CHRIST!
For the one reading this blog, who may be lost and not prepared for their eternity once this life is over, the gift of Jesus was sent to all humanity from God Himself!

‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy
which will be for all the people;
for today in the city of David
there has been born for you
