Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

The Word, The Truth!

  1. What part of the Bible do you believe?
  2. What sections of God’s Word seem too fantastical to believe?
  3. What is it about the Word of God that causes it to be 100% believable?

Jesus was crucified on the cross outside the city of Jerusalem, and then his dead body was placed into a new tomb, one where no body had ever been placed.  The Roman guards stood outside the tomb, securing the entrance with a massive stone, too large for a person to easily roll away and enter.  Then the guards waited, days, to ensure no one stole the body of Jesus, for they had heard the claims Jesus made before His crucifixion.  Would it not be just like Jesus’ followers to sneak into the tomb, steal the dead body of Jesus, and then proclaim to the world that their master had risen from the dead, just as He had said he would?

Well, the Roman centurions were having none of that!

“When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, so that they might come and anoint Him [Jesus’ dead body for burial].

Very early on the first day of the week, [Sunday morning] they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

They were saying to one another, ‘Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?’

Looking up, [as they walked toward the tomb where Jesus had been buried]

they saw that the stone had been rolled away,

although it was extremely large.

Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at the right, [an angel of God] wearing a white robe; and they were amazed.

And he said to them, ‘Do not be amazed;

you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified.

He has risen;

He is not here;

behold, here is the place where they laid Him.”

(Mark 16: 1-6 NASB)

Six small verses reveal everything we believe.

SEE THE TRUTH.

The place where the soldiers placed Jesus’ dead body was empty

  • Jesus was who He said He was—the Messiah.
  • Jesus spoke the truth when He said—I will rise again.
  • Jesus was crucified  &  Jesus was buried.
  • Jesus did remain dead three days in the sealed tomb.
  • Jesus did rise from the dead—Just as He promised He would.

An angel of God met these women there at the tomb that early morning and told them  “But go, tell His disciples and Peter, . . .” (Mark 16: 7a NASB)

The angel of God gave Jesus’ disciples the meeting place where He would meet with them in His resurrected body—

“But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you.’ ”  (Mark 16: 7 NASB)

Artist Jordan Feliz sings a melody that proclaims through song, what I am attempting to say—

“The King is Alive.”  Listen & Believe.

1st—What part of the Bible do you believe?

  • If we sit down to read the Acts of the Apostles within the Bible, we see every sermon preached is a message on the Resurrection of Jesus.
  • Each year at Eastertime, we celebrate the message of the Resurrection of Jesus.
  • This thrilling message electrified the world, turning upside down the world, sideways, wrong side out, & still today, this very fact changes people, turning their lives upside down, sideways, & even righting all their committed wrongs—Jesus Resurrected from the dead, just as He said He would.

The Word, The Truth!

2nd—What sections of God’s Word seem too fantastical to believe?

  • The arrival of the women at the tomb, only to find THE EMPTY TOMB!
  • The announcement of the angel proclaiming JESUS HAD RISEN!
  • The appearances of Jesus to so many people where they in fact saw JESUS’ RESURRECTED BODY!
  • The ascension back to Heaven, of JESUS RETURNING TO HEAVEN & SITTING DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD!

The Word, The Truth!

3rd—What is it about the Word of God that causes it to be 100% believable?

  • Knowing God is in control of our lives and that He is directing our steps brings us great peace!
  • Understanding that even when we face struggles, trials, sickness, disease, & even death, our God of Peace will walk us through everything!
  • Realizing that even if we are diagnosed with a terminal illness or if we live to a ripe-old-age, the outcome for the saints of God—the angels of God will transport us to Heaven where we will see our Savior face-to-face & share eternity with God, our Father!

Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, wrote these words—

“A tranquil heart is life to the body, . . .”

(Proverbs 14: 30a NASB)

The fact that the tomb was empty, the place where the body of Jesus was laid remains empty, remains acceptable evidence since that early morning when the women went there to anoint the body for burial.

JESUS, HE IS IN FACT, ALIVE!

THE TRUTH IS NOT TOO FANTASTICAL TO BELIEVE, BUT IT IS 100% BELIEVABLE, & THE EVIDENCE OF THE TRUTH REVEALS EVERYTHING WE BELIEVE!

The Word, The Bible, God’s Word—The Truth—Every Word!
