Can We Get Past Ourselves?
- Should we reach for that candy bar calling out to us as we stand in the grocery line?
- Could we accelerate just a little more, as we keep our eye peeled for the police trooper & as we pray, “Lord, don’t let me get pulled over.”
- Would we look again at whatever our desires tempt us to observe, even when we know the Holy Spirit is whispering, “Look away, child of God. Look away.”
Should. Could. Would.
CAN!
YES, child of God, WE CAN, BUT ONLY WITH GOD’S HELP!
We have heard and studied about the snares of the devil, and my-oh-my, how they are real.
&
We have read and pondered about the goodness of Father God, and thank YOU, GOD, HE IS EVER-PRESENT & FAITHFUL.
Thus, the question should not become: Should OR Could OR EVEN Would, but the best question each Christian alive needs to ask: What must I daily do?
The apostle Paul received from the Holy Spirit the words we desperately need. Please read them today (with me), & may we heed them today (apply them to our lives).
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body;
and be thankful.
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another
with psalms
and hymns
and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”
(Colossians 3: 15-17 NASB)
Should we reach for the remote as we reach for our morning coffee—or—SHOULD WE INSTEAD REACH FOR THE WORD of GOD?
Could we withstand the pressures and temptations and struggles of this day—or—COULD WE WALK CLOSELY BESIDE GOD AS WE STEP THROUGHOUT EVERY SECOND OF TODAY?
Would we be swept up in the narrative of this world—or—WOULD WE BETTER SERVE IF WE FOCUSED MORE ON THE STORY of JESUS CHRIST, THE SAVIOR?
Should. Could. Would.
CAN!
YES, child of God, WE CAN, BUT ONLY WITH GOD’S HELP!
- Can We Get Past Ourselves?
- Can We Listen Less to Our Wants & Desires?
- Can We Love God With Our Heart, Mind, Body, & Strength?
- Can We Love Others As Ourselves?
- Can We Follow God’s Holy Word More Closely?
- Can We Kneel Down More to Praise & Worship Our Savior, the KING of Kings?
- Can We Heed the Holy Spirit—More—as we walk through today?
