Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Who are You, God, that Your creation reflects You?

“The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.”

(Psalm 19: 1-2 NASB)

Reflect for a time; consider the question:  How can a reflection upon creation lead to a deeper appreciation & to a more beautiful knowledge of the Creator?

Creation.

God’s Creation.  Yes, ALL God’s!

  • All Creation reveals the Creator.
  • All Creation glorifies the Creator.

Who are we, God, that You are mindful of us?

If you were to ask me what I ‘do,’ I would respond, proclaiming how I Am A Teacher, An Instructor.  It’s what I ‘do’ with my time, my days, my hours & minutes, my months & my years—my LIFE.

Yes, if we were to ask one another (which we do):  What do you ‘do’?

We ask the question, asking in reality:  How do we make a living, pay the bills, spend our time?  In reality, as an instructor of students, my work as a teacher reflects something of—Who I am.

LORD, Your creation reflects You!

Thus on this day ‘off’ work & the day ‘before’ the Sabbath, I come face-to-face with the question:

Who are You, God, that Your creation reflects You?

Consider how—

The law of the LORD is perfect,
restoring the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is clean,
enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true;
they are righteous altogether.
They are more desirable than gold,
yes, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the
drippings of the honeycomb.”

(Psalm 19: 7-10 NASB)

“So Good” by DOE proclaims through song what the psalmist David wrote centuries earlier.  Pause to listen.  Be reminded of the LORD Who established the light and the dark, Who set into motion the day, and Who laid the foundations, Who created the heavens and the sea, & Who proclaimed when His work was completed:  “and God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1: 10b, 12b, 18b, 21b, 25b)

When the LORD completed His work—

“God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good.  And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts.
By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.”

(Genesis 1: 31 & 2: 1-3 NASB)

When the LORD completed His work—

He rested.

As we read the Word of God, seeing His creation, we wonder—

  • How can we get in the way of our rest?
  • What do we stand in its place & think we must do—more than rest?
  • True, we are to work; God Himself demonstrated this action.
  • Even more true—We are to enjoy ‘a Sabbath rest.’

“He made the moon for the seasons;
The sun knows the place of its setting.
You appoint darkness and it becomes night,
In which all the beasts of the forest prowl about.
The young lions roar after their prey
And seek their food from God.
When the sun rises they withdraw
And lie down in their dens.
Man goes forth to his work
And to his labor until evening.
O LORD, how many are Your works!
In wisdom You have made them all;
The earth is full of Your possessions.”

(Psalm 104 19-24 NASB)

Most assuredly, a reflection upon creation leads to a deeper appreciation & to a more beautiful knowledge of the Creator.

All Creation reveals & glorifies the Creator!

  • Creator!
  • Teacher!
  • Savior!

LORD, You are all three!

LORD, You are our everything!

  • May we see Your creation & exclaim:  God’s Creation.  Yes, ALL God’s!
  • May we see Your creation & ask:  LORD, teach us this day!
  • May we see Your foundation & cry:  FATHER, we cannot wait to see Your future that awaits!
  • May we see Your creation & bow in worship, whispering:  Thank You, LORD.  Praise God.  Father, thank You for sending us Jesus, our Savior!
  • May we see the LORD’S creation & recall those who remain lost, praying:  Lead us Holy Spirit to someone who needs to see YOU!

“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made,
so that they are without excuse.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 1: 20 NASB)

May we see Who You areGodthat Your creation reflects You!
