Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Goodbye is NOT the End!

“The Father loves the Son and has entrusted all things to His hand.
The one who believes in the Son has eternal life;
but the one who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

(John 3: 35-36 NASB)
  • Imagine you were an adult living in the world during this current generation, & imagine you grew up in a place where “church” was not something people did on a regular basis.
  • Imagine you were living in a culture during this current generation, & imagine you only attended “church” on Christmas and Easter mornings.
  • Imagine you were an adult living in this world during this current generation, & imagine you lived in a society that contained fewer and fewer Christians.
  • Imagine you were living in the world during this current generation, & imagine that “churches” situated in the city were being renovated into apartments, bars, and museums.
  • Imagine this was you, & just imagine (for a second) that you read John 3 for the first time in your life.

Goodbye is NOT the End!

We go on journeys, we hug hello, enjoy time together, share life-stories, speak aloud secrets we hold deep within our being, eat delicious meals, & hug some more every chance we get.  Then, the day comes when we must part.  Deep within our being sadness takes up residence, & we are just not sure if we’re going to be okay living so far apart, even though we know we must.  We truly do not wish to say “goodbye” because we know it will be so long until we hug again; yet we know the minutes are ticking by until we hug our final time.

  • Goodbye is NOT the End—for those who know Christ Jesus as Lord.
  • Goodbye is NOT the End—for those who have been redeemed.
  • Goodbye is NOT the End—for those who call Jesus their friend.

“The Father loves the Son and has entrusted all things to His hand.
The one who believes in the Son has eternal life; . . .”

(John 3: 35-36a NASB)

Goodbye is NOT the End for some, but truly, “Goodbye” just may be the final parting between those who know Jesus as their Savior & for those who remain lost to God.

“The one who believes in the Son has eternal life;
but the one who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

(John 3: 35-36 NASB)

This life we are afforded to live remains so, so terribly brief.  Let us hug hard; Let us love out loud; Let us tell the world about Jesus with our mouths, as well as with our hands & feet, and Let us strive to introduce those we love to the Savior of the world.

Then, as others are introduced to the Messiah and become children of God, our “Goodbye” will NOT be the End BUT really just the start of an eternity shared together.

Then we will say, “Until we meet again” & NOT “Goodbye.”

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.”

(John 3: 16 NASB)
